Macaulay Culkin Drug Rumors: Actor Opens Up About His Alleged $6,000 A Month Heroin Addiction

Years after rumors flooded media outlets claiming that Michael Jackson groped then child actor, Macaulay Culkin, the star has now opened up about his alleged $6,000 a month heroin addiction. Speaking with The Guardian, Culkin wanted to bury once and for all the rumors that have been circulating about his expensive drug habit, a debate that did not stop gaining strength since The National Enquirer made public in 2012 that the Home Alone actor was spending around $6,000 a month on the dangerous substance.

“No, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever,” Culkin said in an interview with British newspaper, The Guardian. “The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern.”

While the 35-year-old assured the publication that he never had an out of control heroin addiction nor is he currently an out of control heroin addict, he admits that he had experienced many ups and downs in his personal life over the last few years, especially when he was arrested in 2004 for possession of large amounts of drugs such as Xanax and Clonazepam. However, Culkin said he has no regrets about past decisions because they are the ones that have led him to become the person he is today.

“It’s allowed me to become the person I am, and I like me, so I wouldn’t change a thing. Not having to do anything for my dinner, financially, lets me treat every gig like it’s the last.” He briefly laughed, before adding that “If it is, I’d think: Culkin, you had a good run.”

Culkin, who lives in France now, went on to say that life has given him many lessons, and he had to act like an adult at a very young age. This forced him to become mature enough to understand how the world worked.

“It’s been like that my whole adult life,” he reflected. “You take on a prey-like attitude, always scanning the horizon. It’s strange on dates, as it looks like you’re not paying attention. But I’ve stopped trying to think of myself in the third person, because that’s just gonna drive me nuts.”

For more than a decade, Culkin had refused to do any interviews, simply because he wanted to distance himself from the Hollywood limelight and avoid the paparazzi.

“I was thinking about this the other day – I’d crossed the wrong street, picked up a tail, suddenly there’s a crush of 20 paparazzi. Then people with cameraphones get involved. I don’t think I’m worthy of that,” he was quoted as saying.

As Entertainment Online wrote, the actor says he believes photographers go after him because he doesn’t “whore” himself out, and he indicates that his approach to his career is the same. While he appears in a new commercial for Compare the Market, he insists he has no qualms about not having further acting projects lined up. Therefore, he says, he focuses on happiness.

“I try to figure out what makes me happy – and not in a superficial way. I keep my soul fit,” he added.

Michael Jackson is, inevitably, a name associated with Macaulay Culkin. The actor was for several years a close friend of the singer and spent time at his Neverland Ranch. In 2005, he testified before a judge in Los Angeles that he was never molested by the King of Pop, who was tried for crimes of sexual abuse. Culkin acknowledged sleeping in the same bed with Michael Jackson many times as a young boy, but he insisted that he remained fully clothed and was never touched inappropriately by the pop star. In his interview with The Guardian, he refused to address the issue.
