World’s Tallest Dog Is Taller Than You

Zeus is a 3-year-old Great Dane. He’s also the tallest dog in the world.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Zeus is 7-foot-4, one inch taller than the previous record holder, another Great Dane named Giant George.

Kevin Doorlag, the dog’s owner, told People Magazine:

“It’s kind of comical. Everybody we see is like, ‘Is that a horse? Is he part horse, part giraffe?… He towers over [most dogs], but it’s kind of funny. Even the smaller dogs will start sniffing, and if they bark, he’ll run behind you. He’s scared. He doesn’t really realize how big he is.”

And Zeus has other little dog traits. Doorlag says that he’s record-breaking Great Dane loves to sit on his lap.

Doorlag said:

“He loves to sit on laps. It’s not bad… But if he stays on my lap for a while, he tends to get on the heavy side.”

The 2013 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records was released this week. This year’s edition contains the world’s tallest mohawk and the world’s shortest living man and woman.
