Kat Von D Publicly Ends Friendship With Jeffree Star, Promises Video Explanation To Come

Kat Von D has taken to social media to announce that she is distancing herself from pop singer and makeup entrepreneur Jeffree Star. In a lengthy social media post, Kat also revealed that she will be pulling the popular shade “Jeffree” from her own makeup line, Kat Von D Beauty.

In a post to her followers on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, Kat said she can no longer back her former friend in his endeavors. Kat also revealed that she will further explain her reasons for dumping Jeffree Star in an upcoming video statement.

Kat called out Star for his inappropriate behavior, which she alleges includes “promoting drug use, racism, and bullying.” She also apologized to those whom she introduced to Jeffree and said she would just “like to disassociate myself from him and his brand from this point on. ” Kat’s post included a photo of her former friend with a “banned” symbol across his face.

It’s no surprise that Jeffree Star also took to Twitter to denounce Von D’s diatribe, accusing her of just trying to stir up drama. In one of his posts, Star revealed that Kat recently accused him of something that wasn’t true, so he blocked her number. Jeffree also revealed that he hasn’t seen Kat Von D in over a year and that only they texted a few days ago after more than six months of silence.

Kat later responded with an accusation that Star stole artwork from her.

In happier times, Kat Von D revealed that she named her bright pink lipstick shade after her pal.

And in another post last fall, Von D declared that she and Star were “best friends forever.”

Kat and Jeffree’s friendship goes way back. In a 2008 interview with LA List, the now-30-year-old model and singer revealed that Kat Von D did a lot of his tattoo work when she worked at True Tattoo.

The black and grey was done by Kat Von D,” Jeffree said at the time. “She’s my best friend…She did a few of mine [when she worked at True Tattoo]… She opened up her own shop. And, all the other tattooists are jealous and they hate her… So she wanted to have her own shop, and it’s way more successful. All the crazy LA tourists keep her rich.”

In fact, it was the duo’s love for both tattoos and beauty queens that bonded them. In an interview with Westworld, Star revealed that when he decided he wanted to get a tattoo of murdered child pageant queen JonBenet Ramsey, he sent Kat Von D an email and their friendship was born.

“I really wanted to start getting my beauty queens, like my Marilyn Monroe and Sharon Tate,” Jeffree told Westworld. “After I sent the e-mail, Kat was like, ‘Let’s get this guy in here right now.’ We really just bonded and have been best friends ever since.”

Von D also inked an image of Kurt Cobain on her onetime friend’s body. The image on Star’s chest depicts the late Nirvana frontman with a crown of thorns on his head, positioned over a sign that reads “Rape Me,” which was the title of one of his band’s songs. But it sounds like Kat won’t be providing any more of her tattooing services to her now-estranged former friend.

Kat Von D has promised to provide more information regarding her fall-out with Star, but for now, fans can check social media, because it sounds like this “Kat-fight” is far from over.
