No wonder Ellen is smiling – her latest sitcom has been picked up by NBC from her company, A Very Good Production, and Warner Bros. TV.

The single-camera comedy, which to date does not have an official title, is currently being written by Lauren Pomerantz, the senior writer for DeGeneres’ daytime talk show. Ellen will join Pomerantz on executive producer duties for the sitcom, which focuses on a successful and independent 32-year-old woman who, convinced she is certain to die alone, seeks the advice of those around her to reassure her that living as a singleton was the right choice.

This latest sale is the second in quick succession for DeGeneres and A Very Good Production; only last season, NBC bought the comedy The Smart One, another Ellen-produced show, in a bidding war.

ABC later picked up the project for a pilot, which will star Ellen’s wife, Portia De Rossi, as a “brilliant and successful woman who begrudgingly goes to work for her less-brainy but more popular sister – a former beauty queen, weather girl and now big-city Mayor.”

A Very Good Production also has a comedy in the works at Fox – DeGeneres seems to have quite the golden touch for successful projects.

In other TV comedy news, CBS has bought All In, a multi-camera comedy, from CBS TV Studios. Written by Robia Rashid, the sitcom centers on a couple who move across the country together to start a new life after only a few months of dating.
