When Will Harry Styles Come Marching Home Again From WWII? ‘Dunkirk’ Co-Star Mark Rylance Gives An Update On Harry

Harry Styles and Mark Rylance are currently making a very realistic World War II movie together. Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is going to be an epic production with a star-studded cast. There will be fleets of vintage ships and airplanes circa 1940.

Mark Rylance, the 56-year-old veteran star of stage and screen, tells The Standard what Harry is really like and how he is doing on the set. When asked how he was helping Styles as a new actor, Rylance assured reporters Styles had required no coaching.

Harry Styles apparently isn’t out of his league at all among all those seasoned actors. That is no small accomplishment. Few actors could begin with a world-class Christopher Nolan film and be able to keep up with the kind of pros involved with that kind of production.

Mark Rylance commented on Harry’s appearance as well as his acting. While it may seem strange that he mentioned it, appearance is an important part of acting, perhaps even more than in music. Harry has the look he needs to make it in acting. While a star doesn’t necessarily have to be handsome, it helps. Most importantly, an actor’s face must be expressive, interesting, compelling, and somehow unique. As fans know, Styles has all of that.

“I didn’t know anything about him really other than my 12-year-old niece played me a music video. She adores him. There are girls all over the place trying to get to him — he is one handsome fella with an incredible smile and eyes.”

Harry Styles has been subjected to conditions similar to being in sea and land battles. There are loud bangs and crashing waves that rock the ships. The actors were actually out to sea for much of the filming. The simulated battle scenes are going to be so realistic that it must feel almost as if they are actually in WWII as they make the movie. Mark Rylance marveled at Harry’s unflinching courage encountering these epic experiences for the first time, as Teen Vogue reports.

“What’s really surprised me is he’s really witty, really funny — he really makes me laugh. He’s been ever so brave, not making any fuss.”

Mark Rylance continued, comparing Styles to another veteran actor, Sean Penn.

“He seems remarkable… one of those people [who has] — Sean Penn has it too — a kind of panache. I look at them and think, ‘How did you get that? How do you get so that life is easy?’ But he has got a lovely, lovely character. It’s a gift.”

Harry Styles does seem to be off in the wars. Fans pine for him, as his absence from the usual paparazzi sightings leaves them searching for a new photo or any word from the star. They await his return to this century like so many war wives. Styles has been away for what seems like forever. It is rare to see him on “shore leave” in London and he has not returned to the U.S. since filming started.

Mark Rylance, likewise, has been away, but he confided to The Standard that he will be returning to theater in the fall. He plans to star in the West End run of Nice Fish in November.

Harry Styles fans can take heart. While some fans are proud of Harry’s “war efforts,” most cannot wait for him to get home, grow back his ponytail, and give them more music, photos, and social media posts. For those fans, Mark’s performance schedule is great news. Now they know that this filming will all be done in a few months.

Harry Styles will come marching home again in November.
