Harry Styles Begins New Bromance, 5 Seconds Of Summer Explains Why They Suddenly Sound Like 1D Star

Harry Styles is reportedly making friends on the set of his first movie, director Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Dunkirk. Meanwhile, it looks like the boys of 5 Seconds of Summer have found a way to benefit from the hiatus that Harry and his One Direction bandmates are taking from making music together. The Aussie group has hired Harry Styles’ vocal coach, and they’re succeeding in sounding like the 1D singer and his beloved boy band.

However, Harry Styles is probably too busy with his own solo music plans and budding film career to worry about 5 Seconds of Summer stealing One Direction fans. He might be new to the movie scene, but sources say that Harry gets along great with everyone on the Dunkirk set. The singer is reportedly making a good impression on his co-stars by being friendly and courteous and not making any outrageous diva demands.

“He has been getting along with all the cast and crew, who all love how humble the superstar is acting on set. He is not behaving like a diva at all, no entourage, just a sweet guy,” a source told Hollywood Life.

As Teen Vogue reports, Harry was filmed proving that he’s a stand-up guy by helping his Dunkirk co-stars get off of a boat.

Being on his best behavior has reportedly helped Harry forge “an epic bromance” with one of his costars, 26-year-old Scottish actor Jack Lowden.

“Harry and Jack have also been getting along smashingly. They spend the most time together off camera and are already talking about other projects they would like to work on in the future with each other.”

One of Jack Lowden’s other major movie projects might be right up Harry Styles’ alley. According to Deadline, Lowden will star as the Smiths frontman Morrissey in Steven, a biopic about the indie singer. Unfortunately, NME reports that Steven was scheduled to begin filming in mid-April, so it’s likely too late for Harry to score a role as a member of Morrissey’s breakup-bound band.

While Harry Styles has been busy making movies and new friends, his old tour-mates — 5 Seconds of Summer members Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, and Calum Hood — have been busy making music for movies. As the Daily Mail reports, the punk-pop band recorded a song for the upcoming Ghostbusters movie titled “Girls Talk Boys.”

During an interview with Smallzy’s Surgery on Nova, Australian radio host Kent “Smallzy” Small pointed out that the song’s vocals are “very Harry Styles reminisce.” Ashton Irwin hinted that this is what his group was going for by revealing that 5SOS has hired Harry’s vocal coach.

“We do actually have the same vocal coach (as Harry Styles) which is a funny thing, funny you say that,” Ashton said.

Fuse writer Emilee Lindner agrees that 5 Seconds of Summer’s new song sounds like it was inspired by One Direction.

“‘Girls Talk Boys’ contains a catchy falsetto melody, a One Direction–like piano-led bridge and funky-ass guitars,” she writes. “Luke sings with testosterone-driven soul, like he’s been watching old James Brown videos.”

However, she believes that the Aussie band’s new sound might be a one-time change-up for the Ghostbusters movie soundtrack and not a permanent move away from their punk roots.

One Direction fans may not have to settle for 1D sound-alikes like 5 Seconds of Summer for long. As the Daily Mail reports, Harry Styles has signed an $80 million record deal with Columbia Records. The deal is for three solo albums.

There’s no word on when the first of these records will be released, but as the Inquisitr previously reported, Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid has revealed that he’s been helping Harry Styles work on his solo material. McDaid says that “the world is going to be really shocked at what he comes up with.”
