French Montana feat. Drake – “No Shopping”

According to Genius, the song has actually been released as a single from French Montana’s upcoming project, Mac & Cheese: the Album. The source mentions that this single is the third song Frenchie has leaked from his future album.

It seems that he might be taking a mark from Drake’s playbook.

As you know, Drake’s Views album has stayed on Billboard‘s top 200 charts for over two months.

Even before releasing his record-breaking album, Drake dropped several singles for his fans, including but not limited to:

  • “One Dance”
  • “Pop Style”
  • “Controlla”
  • “Hotline Bling.”

Right now, Drake and French Montana’s “No Shopping” song is doing well.

The song’s instrumental was also composed by the same producer who Drake used in other collaborations, says Hot New Hip Hop. That producer is Murda Beatz.

As for Drake and French Montana’s “No Shopping” lyrics, you can read excerpts below — in case you have any confusion about what’s said in the song.

Interestingly enough, Joe Budden has been targeting Drake in many tweets and diss tracks. And now it seems that Drake has finally responded, via his feature with French Montana.

French Montana’s hook begins the song, as viewed below.

“Sippin’ on the drank, sippin’ on the drank / Sippin’ on the drank, sippin’ on the drank / All about the mula, all about the mula / Word to the bird, I ain’t never take a bird shoppin’.”

As Drake starts his verse, he makes reference to Joe Budden’s hit song, “Pump It Up.”

“Pump, pump, pump it up / She got a good head on her, but I pump it up / I’m not a one hit wonder, they know all my stuff / You let me turn into the n***a that you almost was…

“I done seen a lot of s**t and I done been in things / And I never started nothin’, I just finish things / And I’m still off like the man that brought me in this thing / How you out here celebratin’ like the winnin’ team?”

Drake’s lyrics continue with more that focuses on Joe Budden.

“You don’t really want the views / You don’t really want a snapshot of things goin’ on with the crew / You don’t wanna hear Not Nice did thirteen / And did another two for some other s**t he didn’t do…

“Last week, Budden runnin’ in the room / This week sold one point two / Yeah, it’s a boost around baby boy…

“Yeah, and I know Taraji like I’m ‘baby boy’ / And I f**k with Weezy and I’m Baby’s boy / Yeah, we the Army, better yet the Navy, boy.”

And, there you have it. Drake’s response. Of course, it’s not all of it. Yet, you get the idea.

However, Joe Budden fired back at Drake only hours after “No Shopping” dropped. You can listen here.

All in all, what are your thoughts about the Drake/French Montana song, “No Shopping”? Do you think this was a Joe Budden diss? Do you think Drake referred to Budden as a one-hit wonder for his song, “Pump It Up”?
