‘Batman: The Telltale Series’ Video Game Release Date Announced With A Special Twist To Leave You Wanting More

Batman: The Telltale Series video game may be heading to video game consoles and mobile devices a lot sooner than fans and critics think.

Telltale Games used the company’s official blog to make the announcement earlier this week, confirming that the digital and physical release dates of the Batman game are in separate months.

According to the blog, the first episode of Batman: The Telltale Series will be available for digital release in August. Fans of the Dark Knight can look forward to playing the game on iOS and Android-powered mobile devices, PC, and Apple computers as well as video gaming consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The physical release of the same Batman episode is scheduled for September 13 in North America.

“The series will be available…starting September 13th in North America as a special Season Pass Disc, which will include the first of five episodes in the season and will grant access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download via online updates.”

The company further stated that Batman: The Telltale Series will make its big debut on a physical disc throughout Europe several days later on September 16.

Customers that only want access to the first chapter of Batman: The Telltale Series can pay $4.99 for the one-time purchase. However, those interested in purchasing the full set on the “Season Pass Disc” can pay $29.99 and receive download/update notifications for the Batman series’ future installments as system updates.

The fact that Telltale Games decided to release a physical disc of the first episode of the highly anticipated Batman video game series may surprise the company’s fans. Over the years, the company has capitalized on quite a few hit franchises and adapted them into video games of their own — including Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and Minecraft.

However, in the past, the company would usually focus on digital releases first before physical releases.

For instance, all episodes of their Back to the Future video game series were initially released digitally over time. After all of the episodes were digitally released, then Telltale Games issued a physical release of the entire series.

Perhaps with the Batman: The Telltale Series video game episodes, the company is banking on the hope that gamers will want to come back for more after getting their first taste of the new addition to the growing list of Batman video games.

When will the digital release of the series’ first episode be in August?

As of right now, TellTale Games is apparently keeping that date under wraps. However, the company used its official blog to let fans and critics know when they could expect to hear that big announcement.

“Stay tuned for next week, when the world premiere trailer debuts alongside the digital release date!”

The world premiere trailer (and release date announcement) will reportedly be unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con. Fans that attend the expo will be able to enjoy a sneak preview of Batman: The Telltale Series during a special crowd play event which will be held on Saturday, July 23. Troy Baker, the voice actor who portrayed Batman and Bruce Wayne in the video game series, is also expected to appear.
