Darth Vader Is Back As Latest ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Movie Trailer Clip Details Released [Video]

Filming has wrapped on Star Wars: Rogue One. A clip from a possible second trailer, which shows a shot of Darth Vader and his trademark breathing at the end, was shown at the Star Wars Celebration in London.

The BBC reported that the latest trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One revealed a long awaited shot of Darth Vader. Director Gareth Edwards revealed that James Earl Jones has reprised his role as the voice of Darth Vader. Jones performed the voice of Darth Vader in the original trilogy. The dialogue for the part of Darth Vader was recorded by Jones in New York last December.

An original poster for the movie was also released, and it showed the battle on the planet Scariff. The Death Star was shown in the background. Star Wars: Rogue One tells the story of a band of rebels who attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star. It takes place between the third and fourth episodes of the Star Wars saga.

Gizmodo reported that Darth Vader appeared at the Rogue One panel at the Star Wars Celebration. A new trailer clip for the movie appeared at the convention, as did the stars for the movie, as well as LucasFilms president Kathleen Kennedy. The footage was exclusively released at the convention.

The trailer focuses on Jyn Erso. It begins with her running as a little girl. She is on a planet with star ships flying overhead. It cuts to new ships flying over a desert on a jungle planet called Scariff. At the end is a shot on a glossy red floor, probably from the Death Star, and then the famous breathing and outline of Darth Vader. Although the piece was really short, it may appear in a future trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One.

As previously reported in Inquisitr, rumors abounded that Hayden Christensen would reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Fans had mixed reactions over the return of Christensen, and it was unclear how he would reprise the role. Christensen said that he would love to reprise his role in the movie. Since Darth Vader died at the end of Return of the Jedi, the sixth installment, it is unclear in what capacity the Darth Vader character would return in the final trilogy of the movies.

The Telegraph UK reported that the veil of mystery was briefly lifted off of Star Wars: Rogue One at the celebration in London. Director Gareth Edwards took the stage and revealed the never-before-seen footage. It was a sneak peek into the first full trailer for the movie. Several new pieces of information were revealed about who was in the movie, including the return of Darth Vader.

Edwards said that the return of James Earl Jones to reprise his role as the voice of Darth Vader caused ‘nerdgasms.’

“There was one point where he does this one line where he says the word ‘power’, and I just looked at the sound engineer and we had this nerdgasm. We were reduced to three-year-olds.”

Felicity Jones, who stars as Jyn Erso, is a very different hero from the Luke Skywalker and Rey characters. She knows who she is. The fact that she already knows who she is and what she’s supposed to do helps to drive the story. Also, as a character, there’s no indication that she is a Jedi either trying to find out if she is actually a Chosen One like Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Luke, or Rey. She is here to get a job done, not bring balance to the Force.
