Uber Free Ice Cream Delivery: Use Uber App Today, Get Ice Cream Delivered To Your Door — National Ice Cream Day Is Sunday [Video]

Sunday is National Ice Cream Day, but if you don’t feel like going out for ice cream, you can use your Uber app to have ice cream delivered to your door today, according to USA Today. Today, Uber drivers will be out delivering free Magnum ice cream bars in honor of the national holiday this weekend. If you have Uber in your area, just use the app to find out if you can get ice cream delivered to your home, but hurry — you can only get the delivery service and ice cream for free until 3 p.m. (any time zone) today.

This year, the service will be available in more than 400 cities around the world, including some cities that don’t offer Uber service, so just check with Uber to find out if you can get free ice cream delivered to you. In order to get the free ice cream, you must put in your order between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. local time. The ice cream service was going to cost at least $10, but Uber spokesman Craig Ewer said the company wants to make sure as many people as possible get to enjoy the ice cream service today. When you order ice cream from Uber, you will receive four to six Magnum ice cream bars.

In addition to free ice cream, if you order it from Uber, you may get an additional treat. In past promotions, Uber has delivered ice cream in unique ways, including in classic cars, cable cars, Segways, drones, hoverboards, canoes, and even speedboats (see above tweet), depending on where you live. In Dallas, Texas, Uber has even used a carriage pulled by a horse that was dressed up like a unicorn. The tweet below shows a couple of guys who may also show up at your door with free ice cream and a song, although it doesn’t say where they are located.

Due to the attack last night in Nice, Italy, however, Uber will not be delivering free ice cream in several cities in France and the U.K. Uber posted an online statement about the decision.

“Now is the time to pause and reflect so we are cancelling Uber Ice Cream for today. After last night’s tragic events, our thoughts are with the people of France, including our community of riders and drivers in Nice.”

Whether you use Uber today for free ice cream or not, don’t forget that this Sunday, July 17 is National Ice Cream Day, and many businesses will be giving away free ice cream. According to Refinery29, there are a few deals for scrumptious ice cream, and you can even get free ice cream in some places.

Baskin Robbins is giving free upgrades to waffle cones with any ice cream purchase during the entire month of July. But, this Sunday, the ice cream company will also donate a portion of their ice cream proceeds to the United Service Organization. At Carvel, where they frequently give away free cones, they will have a BOGO free deal for cones on Sunday.

Coldstone Creamery will also be giving away free ice cream on Sunday too, but you must be a member of their eClub in order to get BOGO free coupons. Friendly’s is having a “Sprinklefest” all summer long and has a lot of frozen treats discounts with no club or coupons needed. Tastee Freez has a coupon for $1 off a banana split through July 31. You can also check with local food establishments that serve ice cream to find out what deals they are serving up on Ice Cream Day. Other participating companies include Dairy Queen and Marble Slab Creamery, and even Petsmart will be giving away Doggie Ice Cream Sundaes!

While Sunday is National Ice Cream Day, the whole month of July is dedicated to ice cream. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared July as National Ice Cream Month, and the third Sunday of July was designated as National Ice Cream Day. Thank you, Ronald Reagan!
