Melanie Hamrick: Who Is Mick Jagger’s Girlfriend And Latest Baby Mama?

Melanie Hamrick is pregnant with Mick Jagger’s eighth child. Hamrick, a 29-year-old American ballerina, has been in a relationship with the 72-year-old Rolling Stones frontman for the past two years, and the couple are reportedly “surprised and happy” about their baby news and “taking the news in their stride,” according to U.K. paper The Sun.

“This is great news. It will be Mick’s eighth child and nothing fazes him. He’s been incredibly supportive.”

A source close to Melanie Hamrick told The Sun that the ballerina sees what a close relationship Jagger has with his other seven kids, so she knows he will be a great father to their child, despite their 44-year age difference.

“She’s very bright, intelligent, sparky and has her own ideas about how she wants to lead her life. She knows what a great relationship Mick has with all of his children and can’t wait for him to be a dad again.”

The Rolling Stones rocker already has seven kids, with his oldest child, Karis (with ex Marsha Hunt), being 45 years old and his youngest, Lucas (with Luciana Gimenez), at 17 years old. Mick’s other kids are Jade (with ex-wife Bianca Jagger), Georgia, James, Elizabeth, and Gabriel (with longtime love Jerry Hall). Melanie Hamrick is the rock legend’s fifth baby mama. There has been no due date announced for Mick and Melanie’s baby.

But who is Melanie Hamrick? According to W magazine, Melanie was born in Williamsburg, Virginia has been a ballerina since age three. Hamrick moved to Washington D.C. at age 11 to attend a specialized ballet school and participated in high-profile competitions across the country, and at age 17, Melanie was invited to take part in the prestigious summer program at New York City’s American Ballet Theater. Hamrick told W that she was thrust into the real world when she got a full company contract with Balanchine ballet.

“I had been sheltered in this boarding school for six years, dancing morning until night, and suddenly I was in New York City dancing for ABT,” Hamrick told the magazine. “I didn’t even have a debit card. I never even bought milk.”

Hamrick, who goes through ten pairs of pointe shoes a week, has appeared in a long list of ABT productions. Melanie’s roles with the famed ballet company include Calliope in Apollo, the Fairy Winter in Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella, a flower girl in Don Quixote, the Spanish Dance in Alexei Ratmansky’s The Nutcracker, and many more productions.

According to Daily Mail, Melanie Hamrick was introduced to Mick Jagger in Tokyo in February 2014 while the rock superstar was on the Japanese leg of a tour with the Stones. Hamrick and Jagger met just a couple weeks before the shocking suicide of the rock legend’s longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott. The rocker’s publicists insist that he and Melanie were only friends before Scott’s death, although the singer reportedly kept his new relationship on the down low early on.

Melanie Hamrick was engaged to a fellow dancer before she met Mick, but by June 2014 the singer and the ballerina were photographed together on a hotel balcony in Switzerland. While there were rumors of a split last year, Hamrick told W she didn’t want to comment on her personal life.

While Mick is welcoming a baby at age 72 with Melanie Hamrick, he’s not the only Rolling Stone who’s having kids later in life. Mick’s longtime bandmate Ronnie Wood just welcomed twin girls in May. Looks like these guys can set up concert dates as well as play dates together in the near future.
