Josh Duggar Appearance On ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’ Isn’t Happening

It was announced just yesterday by Hollywood Life that Josh Duggar would be making an appearance on the upcoming season of TLC’s Jill & Jessa: Counting On. The news came as a surprise to many fans of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, as Josh was the sole reason the Duggar’s previous show, 19 Kids and Counting, was cancelled. Many feared Josh’s presence on the show would be the beginning of the end for Counting On. Now, People is sharing that this news is “absolutely untrue.”

Just over a year ago, Josh was involved in two separate sex-related scandals. First, it was revealed that Josh had sexually molested several of his younger sisters. At the time the sexual molestation took place, Josh and his younger sisters were all minors. The Duggar family managed to keep the incident out of public knowledge until the police report was released in 2015. Two of Josh’s sisters, Jill and Jessa, both came forward and confirmed the molestation had taken place. There was no way the family could deny what had happened after the police report was made public, so they made the decision to face the scandal head on.

Not long after the media had moved on from the Josh Duggar sexual molestation scandal, Josh made headlines again when it was discovered he had an account on the website Ashley Madison. Ashley Madison is a site set up to help men or woman cheat on their partners. Josh could not deny his ownership of the account, as the billing address for the account led back to his first home with Anna. Josh eventually admitted he did own the account and had cheated on Anna while she was pregnant with their fourth child. He also admitted he was addicted to pornography and was leading a double life. Josh was in a rehab facility for sexual addiction for six months.

19 Kids and Counting was replaced by Jill & Jessa: Counting On. The premise of the show was to allow the world to see the older sisters moving on after the scandal with their brother. Josh never made an appearance on Season 1 of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, but he was brought up in conversation on multiple occasions.

Jill & Jessa: Counting On started running into problems when sponsors began demanding their ads be pulled from the series. The sponsors shared they did not want their brand associated with the scandal revolving around the Duggar family.

It was uncertain if the show would even be returning for a second season, until it was announced last month. The announcement of the second season was overshadowed by the news that Jinger Duggar was in a courtship. It almost felt like TLC had intentionally hidden the announcement of the Season 2 renewal in an effort to avoid a large backlash from the many anti-Duggar groups on social media. In fact, TLC has yet to release an official season premiere date for Jill & Jessa: Counting On.

Speaking of social media, many did not take kindly to the news that Josh Duggar was going to be returning to TV.

While it doesn’t appear that Josh Duggar will be making a return to reality TV anytime soon, he has been making an attempt recently to be out in public more. This photo was shared of Josh and Anna at a Chick-Fil-A just two days ago.

What are your thoughts about Josh not being on Jill & Jessa: Counting On? Do you think it will be odd for Anna to be on the show without Josh now that he is out of rehab?
