‘Basketball Wives LA’ Star Shaunie O’Neal Gives Advice To Ayesha Curry, Disagrees With Rigged NBA Comments

Shaunie O’Neal was recently out promoting the premiere of Season 5 of Basketball Wives LA on VH1 when she decided to address Ayesha Curry. The real-time basketball wife recently stuck her foot straight in her mouth during the NBA Finals. Steph Curry’s wife tweeted accusations that the NBA was rigged after the Golden State Warriors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6. Shaunie insists that Ayesha needs to tone it down because her actions could cost her husband a lot.

It was during a stop at Fox’s Preachers while Shaunie O’Neal, Malaysia Pargo, and Jackie Christie were doing press for the upcoming reality TV season that the subject of Ayesha and the NBA finals came up. According to VH1, the women were asked what they thought of Ayesha’s controversial tweet. It was the one which Curry quickly deleted after the game but originally read, “I’ve lost all respect, sorry, this is absolutely rigged for money … Or ratings, I’m not sure which. I won’t be silent. Just saw it live. Sorry.” That’s when Shaunie O’Neal spoke up and said that making public statements like the one in question could really hurt Steph Curry’s basketball career.

“I personally didn’t like her Tweet. I don’t know Ayesha Curry,” Shaunie said. “I don’t believe in, she’s a woman, she’s a wife, be quiet and sit at home. I don’t believe in that, I feel like she should express her opinion but maybe be smarter about it. Was it rigged when your husband was winning, or just when he was losing?”

Malaysia Pargo also had something to say about Ayesha and the infamous tweet. Pargo is often more forgiving than many of her Basketball Wives LA co-stars, so it wasn’t surprising when she also wanted to give Ayesha Curry the benefit of the doubt.

“She’s human, and we get in our feelings,” Malaysia argued. “Our husbands are on the court, and we’re their biggest fans. So, she was just in the moment, I don’t think she even thought about, ‘I’m offending someone.'”

Shaunie O’Neal quickly corrected Malaysia though and told her the biggest issue is that Ayesha wasn’t thinking. That’s probably the reason that she quickly deleted the tweet. Those who were paying attention to Ayesha Curry from that point forward during the NBA Finals also noted that she stopped tweeted during the series after that except for one lone tweet where she cheered on the Golden State Warriors.

To further prove that Ayesha Curry got the hint, she’s remained silent about her feelings on the NBA Finals ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers won. Ayesha spoke of the shocking tweet just once during an interview with People magazine. That interview just came out about a week ago, making for a long silence between the NBA Finals and when Ayesha finally spoke on the headline-grabbing social media faux pas.

“I regret the way that I voiced how hurt I was. I felt hurt for [Steph], and I didn’t mean to offend anybody. Obviously, what I wrote is not what I think about what he does for a living.”
