Later, the actor clarified his statement on Twitter. Somerhalder said that the media jumped the gun when reporting he said The Vampire Diaries was ending after the Season 8 finale. In fact, Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, told Variety that no decisions were being made until after they see how the audience reacts to the upcoming season.

When news of Nina Dobrev’s eventual return to The Vampire Diaries hit the Internet, rumors surfaced that there was trouble in paradise for Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder. However, the latest report claims that it is the opposite. According to a recent report from the Morning Ledger, sources say that Nikki Reed has no problem with Nina returning to TVD. The website cited Hollywood Life, which used an anonymous source back in April.
“Nikki and Ian are so in love. There’s nothing he could possibly do to upset her,” Hollywood Life‘s source revealed. “The idea of Ian and Nina reuniting on screen for The Vampire Diaries doesn’t bother her one bit. She has no issues with this whatsoever. Nikki and Ian are celebrating their one year anniversary on April 26, and that’s what she’s most looking forward to for the time being.”
Even though the website used an older source, could this still be accurate? Recent photos of Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder indicate that the couple are still very much in love. The actress doesn’t seem to have a worry in the world. Pictures often show the two gazing into each other’s eyes, and it is clear that there are no issues.
When it comes to relationships in Hollywood, actors have to get used to their partners possibly working with former mates. Both Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have moved on, and there is no reason to assume there are any issues with the two reuniting on The Vampire Diaries.

Even though it is possible that Dobrev could play a villain, it won’t be because of any issues Nikki has with Ian and Nina. Instead, it will be due to creative storylines, with the writers trying to make Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries the best one ever.
