NBA Rumors: Dario Saric Signing With Philadelphia 76ers

Sometimes, it doesn’t take long for an NBA team to go from not having enough talent to having possibly too much. According to CBS Sports, Dario Saric is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. He will be leaving Europe and heading to the United States to finally join the Sixers.

With rumors of Joel Embiid being healthy enough to finally play in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers will have three high draft picks at the center position. The roster also consists of Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor, who proved that he was one of the best rookies in the National Basketball Association last season.

For a couple of years now, the Philadelphia 76ers knew that this problem was going to eventually come to the surface. Management knew that they would have to choose one or two of the centers to keep around while trading away one of the talented big men in order to balance out the roster.

The Philadelphia 76ers used the first overall selection in the NBA Draft to select Ben Simmons, as reported by Sports Illustrated. Since the 6-foot-10 player is best at the small forward and power forward position, he adds on to the frontcourt log jam that the Sixers need to resolve.

Ben Simmons and Dario Saric are very similar players. Both are combination forwards that have the skills of a point guard. They both are most effective when utilized as a play maker in the front court. That might become a problem for Sixers head coach Brett Brown.

Rather than being concerned about their unbalanced roster, the Philadelphia 76ers are publicly boasting that they have quite the advantage. Management feels that they have three strong candidates for NBA Rookie of the Year in Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and Joel Embiid. That is a problem that a lot of general managers in the National Basketball Association would love to have.

According to NBC Sports, Philadelphia 76ers general manager Bryan Colangelo has already stated that he is not comfortable with going into the regular season with Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, and Joel Embiid.

Though he has proven to be a very good player on offense, Jahlil Okafor might be the best candidate for the Philadelphia 76ers to ship out. He had several off-court issues during his rookie season. If the Sixers can acquire a point guard and shooting guard that can shoot from the perimeter, then that will balance the roster for Philadelphia.

If the Philadelphia 76ers can improve their back court and outside shooting, then Nerlens Noel will become even more valuable to the team. He has shown sparks of being a great defensive big man, but he needs outside shooters to open things up for him on the offensive side of the ball.

Fortunately for the Philadelphia 76ers, Ben Simmons is a willing and capable defender. Since he has the athleticism to defend small forwards, there is a good chance that Brett Brown could play Simmons and Dario Saric together.

Brett Brown requires good passers in his offensive scheme, one that has been adapted from the San Antonio Spurs. If Ben Simmons and Dario Saric can figure out how to play together, then the offensive scheme becomes that much more of a weapon for the Philadelphia 76ers because they can attack from all sorts of angle.

There is no certainty that Dario Saric is going to become a star in the NBA. He has all the athletic tools and basketball skills. Now, Saric just needs to see if that translates to playing in the best basketball league in the world.
