Free Food Week — Today Is National French Fry Day And Krispy Kreme Donuts Celebrates 79th Birthday With BOGO Deal

This happens to be “free food week,” usually the week after the Fourth of July, food establishments and businesses give away free food, like 7-Eleven and Chick-Fil-A, as noted in previous Inquisitr articles. Today is also National French Fry Day, and according to Fortune magazine, you can get free fries at participating establishments such as McDonald’s, Burger King, and IHOP. Actually, BK is not giving away free fries, but you can get two Whoppers, two medium drinks, and two small fries for $10 through this Friday, July 15. McDonald’s is giving away free medium french fries with the purchase of any large sandwich until July 24, but you have to use the McDonald’s app to redeem the offer.

IHOP is offering free, unlimited seasoned fries through the end of this month if you buy a burger. Other free french fry deals can be found at The Fermentorium, Frite Street, Ground Round, and New York Fries, as mentioned in Fortune magazine. IB Times also mentions how to score free fries today on National French Fry Day, but you might not find some of those locations in your local area. You might try checking with restaurants in your area to see if they are celebrating National French Fry Day today.

Monday, July 11, was Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven, but you can still get free drinks at 7-Eleven through next Monday, July 18. The convenience store chain is giving away every seventh drink you buy, if you use the 7Rewards app. You can receive up to 11 free drinks this week! Yesterday, July 12, was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A, if you wore a cow costume or something “cow-like,” you got a free entree; kids who dressed up got a free Kid’s Meal. Along with National French Fry Day today, Krispy Kreme Donuts is also celebrating their 79th birthday and they are celebrating with a BOGO offer.

If you buy a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts today, you can get a second dozen of their original glazed donuts for just 79 cents at any of their locations. You might find some KK locations inside local convenience stores as well. If you want more free food deals, tomorrow is National Hot Dog Day, and Pilot Flying J stores will be giving away free hot dogs or any other rolling grill item. All you have to do is print out or show this coupon and go get your free hot dog!

As for today being National French Fry Day, celebrating Hump Day with one of America’s favorite foods couldn’t be any better. The origin of the holiday is not really known, just like the origin of the name of the popular food. Some have claimed that the name came from Belgium, but most claims say that the name did not come from France. The French part of the name supposedly was attached because the Belgian troops spoke French during WWI, which was when the Belgian fries were discovered, so people then started calling them “french fries.”

Other “holidays” this week pertaining to food include Tapioca Pudding Day on Friday, July 15; Fresh Spinach Day on July 16; and Sunday, July 17, is National Ice Cream Day, as well as Peach Ice Cream Day. According to Holiday Insights, other “food holidays” this month include caviar, raspberry cake, lollipops, junk food, vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate, lasagna, and cheesecake days.

While Pilot Flying J stores are giving out hot dogs tomorrow for Hot Dog Day, Holiday Insights actually shows the holiday for hot dogs to be observed on July 23. While it’s not known if any of those foods will be given away by local merchants, all you have to do is contact your local restaurants to see if they are observing these “holidays” by giving away free food. Enjoy this week of free food!
