Justin ‘Rated R’ Rego Says He’s Not A Fan Of Fellow ‘Bachelorette’ Villain Chad Johnson

Justin Rego has officially bitten the reality TV had that fed him. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rego, who was also known by his wrestling name, “Rated R,” while he was one of Ali Fedotowsky’s suitors on The Bachelorette, dropped several bombshells about the ABC reality TV franchise.

In addition to revealing that he knew Ali wasn’t the girl for him by the third day of filming, Rego said producers wouldn’t let him leave the show until after the group traveled to Turkey weeks later. Justin also said the “puppet master” producers fed Fedotowsky lines through an earpiece, and he said he quickly figured out he was cast as that season’s villain, especially since showrunners focused on his bad-boy backstory as an entertainment wrestler.

In one of the most memorable Bachelorette scenes of all time, Rego was called out by Fedotowsky after she got a surprising phone call from his girlfriend back home. Rego’s hometown girlfriend, Jessica, told Ali that the plan had been for him to go on the ABC reality show to help further his wrestling career and that his goal was to get to the top three so he could be well-known. Jessica said Justin planned to marry her when he got back from The Bachelorette. Rego famously ran from Fedotowsky as she confronted him, even jumping through some bushes while on crutches in an attempt to get away from her.

This is not the first time Justin Rego has spoken out on his Bachelorette experience. In a now-deleted Facebook post shared by Us Weekly, Rego revealed that he felt “betrayed, manipulated and unfairly lied to” on the show. Rego denied being in a relationship when he signed on to be one of Ali’s suitors.

“I was not in a relationship before I went on the show and I am still single now,” Rego wrote after his elimination from Ali’s season. “I went on the show to experience an opportunity with possibilities of meeting the love of my life.”

Rego said he believes producers had ulterior motives and said he refused to attend The Men Tell All special as a result.

“The producers of The Bachelorette took this experience that was supposed to be an amazing moment that I will never forget, and made it into a living hell for me,” Rego revealed.

But while Justin Rego is known as one of the long-running reality show’s most notorious bad boys, he may have finally passed the torch to a new guy, thanks to the current season’s villain, Chad Johnson. But Rego thinks there is no comparison between himself and JoJo Fletcher’s baddie. Justin says he handled himself with more class than Johnson did.

“I like to think I was a little more charming than he is,” Justin told ET. “He’s a little crude, a little bit of a… too much of an alpha male and kind of a little bit of a jerk, so I’m not a fan of Chad. I would probably end up getting into a fist fight with him if I was in the house with him.”

Luckily Rego wasn’t in the house because Johnson had enough guys to butt heads with before he was unceremoniously sent packing by JoJo.

Of course, Justin Rego isn’t the only former Bachelorette suitor who has a beef with Johnson. In an interview with Us Weekly, last season’s troublemaker JJ Lane said the protein powder-loving bodybuilder wouldn’t have had a chance on his season of the show.

“Chad, I think you’re a f***ing d***head!” Lane said. “You wouldn’t have survived with me and Clint [Arlis] in the house, I’ll tell you that much.”

Like Rego, Lane said he wouldn’t have put up with Johnson’s antics.

“I think Chad is a bit of a blowhard,” Lane said. “I honestly don’t think Clint or myself or even Chris Soules for that matter, like there’s certain guys in this world they kind of don’t put up with the bulls**t. He kind of preyed on guys that did.”

While Justin Rego held court for years as the most hated guy in Bachelorette history, earlier this year host Chris Harrison teased to Entertainment Weekly that this season’s villain could be the most hated guy ever to appear on the long-running reality franchise.
