Former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty has now been positively identified as one of the Libya embassy attack victims. Doherty is from Massachusetts, according to a family friend who spoke with Fox News. The US State Department previously confirmed that Ambassador Christopher Stevens and Foreign Service Information Management Officer, Sean Smith, died in the attacks at the Middle East consulate. The name of the fourth attack victim has not yet been released.

Glen Doherty was once a ski instructor in Utah and trained as both a medical officer and sniper while active in a Navy SEAL unit. The Libya embassy victim was a Winchester, Massachusetts native and was 42-years-old, according to the Boston Globe.

He served in the elite military unit for seven years before ending his military career year four years ago. He was currently employed by a private security firm. According to the Fox News, the former Navy SEAL was killed in Benghazi while attempting to take cover from gunfire in an annex building near the primary Libya consulate structure.

The Benghazi embassy victim was a Winchester, Massachusetts native and was 42-years-old, according to the Boston Globe.

Katie Quigley had this to say about her deceased brother:

“He was on a security detail and he was protecting the ambassador, and also helping the wounded. He was always an adventure seeker. I never thought he’d be another victim of September 11. You have to understand. Glen was highly trained. He was the best of the best. He wouldn’t have gone down for some protest over a movie. This was serious, well-planned, well-executed. He was very good at what he did.”

During his military career, the consulate attack victim had served in Afghanistan and Iraq. While employed by a private security company, he once again spent time in both of the Middle East nations and worked in Kenya and Israel as well. According to Quigley’s statements to the Boston Globe, her brother returned home on for a visit after completing a three month tour in Libya on September 5.
