Lil Wayne Suffers Third Lean Seizure In a Month? Rapper Seen Sipping Sizzurp, Denies Relapse Allegations

Lil Wayne suffered another epileptic seizure last week in Las Vegas just before he was to perform at Tao nightclub at a pre-UFC party but instead, he was hospitalized at the ICU, reports Hip Hop DX. This marks the third seizure in less than a month for the “Got Money” rapper, and it is an indication that the 33-year-old’s health is precarious. While this latest seizure and the two suffered last month were attributed to his epilepsy medications not being properly tweaked or him forgetting to take them entirely, there is some concern that he may have had a sizzurp relapse.

The New Orleans native’s private jet was forced to make two emergency landings in Omaha in June as he was making his way from Milwaukee to California, prompting the rapper to be hospitalized. Sizzurp, also known as “lean” or “Purple Drank,” was reportedly on his person during his performance at a Milwaukee club performance, according to TMZ. Onlookers say that Lil Wayne sucked down three of the five 16 oz. bottles of Promethazine/Codeine syrup he had with him and then continued drinking it during the afterparty. Lil Wayne (Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) has denied the allegations, saying that he simply neglected to take his medication because the pharmacy in Milwaukee didn’t have it in stock.

Weezy has admitted to having an addiction to the cough syrup concoction that is often mixed with soft drinks and an optional Jolly Rancher. He had epileptic seizures in 2012 and the one in 2013 that nearly killed him after he had three in a row that had his heart rate at 30 percent. He stated that stress and overworking were the contributing causes.

It is rare that Lil Wayne is seen performing or partying without his double cup and in the past, he has gotten very agitated when asked about its contents. He seemed mellower when the topic came up during a Tim Westwood TV interview back in May 2011.

“It aint nobody’s business what’s in my cup, what’s in your cup, what’s in their cup, it’s your cup drink it. Kill yourself if that’s what you want to do.”

In 2013, Wayne told Katie Couric that his doctors told him he had no choice but to kick the habit, but the highly addictive substance is known to be a hard drug to quit completely. In a 2008 MTV interview, he sounds frustrated, not just with the constant speculation and pleading from his loved ones, but also with himself for being unable to kick the habit.

“It ain’t that easy — feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that sh–. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I’m a selfish-ass n—a. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It’s gonna be hard to tell me I’m slipping. It’s hard to sit and tell a n—a ‘Stop.’ ‘F—, how can we tell this n—a to stop when every f—ing thing he do is successful? This n—a is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that sh– was amazing.’ Feel me? So what am I doing wrong?

In “We Takin Over,” he raps “weed and syrup till I die,” and that could very well be the case — soon. The “Purple Drank” that is so popular in Hip Hop culture can stop the flow of breathing, resulting in other medical problems and the intelligent and popular rapper is dangerously close to joining A$AP Yams, Pimp C, and DJ Screw who all died way too soon courtesy of lean.

At the moment, Lil Wayne is resting at home in Miami after spending a couple of days in ICU after suffering from severe complication from his recent epileptic seizures.
