Digsby steps into the real-time web

Digsby, a multiprotocol IM client as well as a social media client announced this evening a new version of their client that adds some new features to their already impressive list of supported protocols and networks.

Among the new services being added is access to your MySpace Activity Stream, status updates and t he ability to browse photos. They have also partnered with OneRiot to enable real-time search of the web from your desktop.

Additionally Digsby now has Global Status, with built-in spell checking, that lets you select which of the supported social networks and IM accounts you want your status updates to be broadcasted to. With this release the Digsby crew has also released their own URL shortener for users of Digsby.

On the cosmetic front Digsby is sporting a custom new look for Digsby users who are running Windows 7.
