WWE News: WWE Superstar John Cena Shifting To A Part Time Role With WWE, Retirement Upcoming?

WWE Superstar John Cena may be one of the biggest stars in the world right now. His work in major movies in 2015 allowed him to get in front of eyes that never saw him before. Of course, most people cannot see him due to the whole gimmick that is John Cena, but you know what is meant here. In any case, Cena was able to be seen and heard, and movie fans responded well to him. Critics have claimed his recent work was great, which is never a bad thing to hear.

He is the biggest star in all of pro-wrestling right now, so the fact that he is now loved by new fans can only be a good thing for the company. He has worked hard for the WWE for about fifteen years now, which is an insane amount of time for any wrestler in the WWE. To then talk about the fact that he has been the top guy since 2005 for the company is also telling. The fact that Cena has spent a decade at the top and has proven to be a draw surely means that his presence with the WWE is very valuable.

However, the company could be without their top star at least a little bit. According to Cageside Seats, John Cena is working far less live events for the company. They’re basically limiting his schedule as much as they can. He is not expected to miss any television tapings or upcoming pay-per-views, which means Cena is not going to disappear.

All of this is being done to help keep Cena around longer. As mentioned, they know he’s a major star for them. They cannot afford to lose him because his body can no longer take the constant pains of taking bumps on a regular basis. On top of this, Cena may very well have a career in Hollywood due to his great work last year. Eventually, he’s going to get more roles that he cannot turn down.

The Rock left WWE over a variety of things, but it all started similar to John Cena’s current situation. Rock was asked to be on television shows and in a movie or two. He kept being asked, so WWE was fine with letting him take on a part-time schedule and work with them when he could. Then he was offered major roles all the time that he couldn’t turn down due to how big they would be for his career.

He had an easy decision. Stick around WWE and take hard bumps forever, or go into a career in acting where he could have a second career that could last for a very long time. There really isn’t a decision to make on that end of things. John Cena may be in a similar situation one day and will have to make a similar choice for the betterment of himself. The Rock did eventually come back to WWE, and comes around as much as he can, which the fans love to see.

Cena is one of the hardest working guys WWE has. He does anything asked of him really, but the issue is that he has done as much as one could do for WWE and has been a loyal solider for too long to not be given the chance to have a lighter schedule. The man learned Mandarin-Chinese so that he could help WWE get into China. Seriously, who does that sort of thing? He has gone above and beyond for the WWE and has become the guy you think of these days when you think of the WWE.

WWE is smart to give him the lighter deal as he can do movies and television without interfering with his WWE time too much. The rumor is that he will be going to WWE SmackDown in the WWE Draft in a few weeks. SmackDown is a notable place where veterans end up because the schedule is usually lighter than WWE RAW’s schedule. That said, he will most likely get the easier brand and the easier schedule.

Instead of WWE running the Cena horse into the ground, they will instead keep a man around that may last another three years with a full-time schedule and could increase it to another ten years if things go well for him. John Cena certainly doesn’t want to ever leave WWE, but retirement is certainly going to happen eventually. The hope is that with this schedule, that won’t come any time soon for the thirty nine year old.
