Ten Police Officers Shot In Dallas At Rally, Four Confirmed Dead [Breaking]

This story has been updated. In shocking news, 10 police officers have been shot in Dallas, Texas, after a rally that was protesting the death of two different black men this week. NBC DFW shared the details that police are now responding to the area. This was a protest and rally that went down after two police-involved shootings this week. Several hundred people were gathered Thursday at Belo Garden Park in Dallas so that they could protest the shootings in Lousiana and Minnesota. This was a very crowded area as shots started to be fired in Dallas.

Obviously, the police officers that are being shot at now didn’t have anything to do with the shootings that occurred this week. They just happen to have the same profession. There is not a lot of information out at this time about the shootings in Dallas, but police are still in the area and working the scene.

Initially, ABC 7 confirmed that two officers had been struck during the shooting. That number is now confirmed at 10, per CNN, with four officers dead. At this time, police officers are there and seem to be very focused on a parking garage. This could be where the suspect is located, but that is unknown at this time. It appears that they do not have any suspects in custody yet. This shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. local time in Dallas. There is a large presence of police officers in this area at this time.

Before the recent update, Fox 43 shared that two officers and what appears to be several other people are laying in the street at this time. Witnesses shared that the shots were coming from the roof and they were shooting randomly where anyone in the area could end up getting hit. There were more than a dozen shots fired at the scene in Dallas. This information has been updated.

NBC DFW later shared that officers could be seen taking cover as the shots rang out. The videos from the scene show people running as they heard the sound of gunshots. DART public transportation service is shut down at this time. At 10 p.m. NBC 5’s Cory Smith shared that Dallas police believe they have a gunman confined to a building and at this time they are negotiating with that person. So far, police officials have not commented on the story at all. This is all happening after two different shootings from police officers happened recently. There is no word on what the exact motive was for this shooting.

If you are looking for updates, CBS Local is sharing a live video stream of what is going down now where the police officers were shot. When they are ready to give a statement, it will more than likely be available on the same page. This live stream is coming and going, but it has the newest information.
