Soyeon Of T-ARA And Oh Jong Hyuk Of Click-B: K-Pop Idols Break Up After Six Years Of Dating

Since 2014, it seems as if many K-pop idols and K-drama actors of the Hallyu Wave who were involved in relationships are starting to break up. Throughout those years, the Hallyu Stars who seemed to suffer the most are the members of Girls’ Generation. Prior to April 1, 2014, all but two of the remaining eight members were in relationships. Taeyeon was with Baekhyun of EXO. Tiffany was with Nichkhun of 2PM. Hyoyeon was with writer Kim Jun Hyung. Yuri was with baseball player Oh Seung Hwan. Finally, Yoona was with singer-actor Lee Seung Gi. One by one, each member’s relationship fell short resulting in it ending. Only Sooyoung and actor Jung Kyung Ho’s relationship remains. Sunny and Seohyun have reportedly never been in a publicly known relationship.

The aforementioned is just the more known of breakups among stars in the Hallyu Wave simply because Girls’ Generation is the most-popular K-pop girl group in South Korea today and their breakups seem to happen back-to-back. Others have suffered too, including — if the rumors prove true — Lee Min Ho and Suzy of miss A. As of right now though, the latest breakup has happened between a relationship that was going six years strong. Soyeon of T-ara and Oh Jong Hyuk of Click-B are no longer an item.

The news of Soyeon and Oh Jong Hyuk’s breakup circulated the internet, specifically social media, after both their agencies made statements confirming the breakup, as reported by Soompi. MBK Entertainment, the agency that T-ara is now signed to, explained their breakup was “natural” per se.

“Both of them naturally drifted apart afering focusing on their separate entertainment industry activities. We have confirmed that it is true they broke up recently. Having dated for a long time, they have decided to maintain a good relationship and keep supporting each other’s work.”

DSP Media also provided two different statements on Oh Jong Hyuk’s behalf. From what is provided in their statement, it seems DSP Media is taking either the “private route” in addressing the breakup or one of ignorance.

Statement One: “Oh Jong Hyuk and Soyeon recently broke up. Since it’s a private matter we cannot comment any more on it.”

Statement Two: “It’s true that Oh Jong Hyuk and T-ara’s Soyeon broke up recently. The label does not know the exact timing or reason as it’s their personal business.”

Despite the statement provided by MBK Entertainment, Soyeon and Oh Jong Kyuk have stopped following each other on various social media platforms, as reported by Korean news outlet Naver. That may or may not spark some chatter among the K-pop community and fans of the Hallyu Wave.

T-ARA, So Crazy
T-ARA’s last hit song was “So Crazy” which came out back in 2015. Right now, they are doing promotions primarily in China since they are considered China’s most-popular K-pop group. [Image via Screen Capture of “So Crazy” M/V by T-ARA]
As for other related news to Soyeon specifically, she and the rest of the members of the K-pop girl group she is a part of, T-ara, became ambassadors for the smartphone brand Pantech in Vietnam. They went to Ho Chi Minh City on March 12 to fulfill their promotions. They also had a mini-meeting with the Vietnamese Queen. Besides that, they continue to do promotions primarily in China since they are considered the country’s most popular K-pop group.

As for Oh Jong Kyuk, he and his fellow members of K-pop boy group Click-B had their last comeback late last year with a single album featuring their track “Reborn.” It has been almost a decade since their last album, ergo it was highly anticipated among those who remember them. As for Jong Kyuk himself, he’s made appearances on variety shows which includes an appearance as “Lonely Man Leon” on MBC King of Mask Singer last year.
