‘The Walking Dead’ Attraction Gets A Permanent Home At Universal Studios Hollywood

Every fall, The Walking Dead fans got to enjoy monsters, chainsaw-wielding clown, and other assortments of havoc during the Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights. For the past few years, Universal Studios Hollywood has offered a limited time event featuring The Walking Dead mazes for The Walking Dead fans to enjoy. As of July 4, The Walking Dead fans will be happy to know this theme park attraction featuring mazes and decaying zombies has found a permanent home at the Southern California theme park.

With the opening of this attraction, The Walking Dead fans will be able to enjoy walking through a maze filled with decaying zombies based on the hit cable television series all year round.

Anyone who dares to enter The Walking Dead attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood will enjoy lifelike dead characters pulled directly from various scenes of the television series, according to USA Today. Instead of passively observing these deadly zombies the way The Walking Dead fans do when they are watching the show on television, they will be immersed directly into the action.

When you enter The Walking Dead attraction, you are being cast as one of the survivors of the mysterious zombie apocalypse. Your only goal is to survive the imminent slaughter as the zombies within the maze attempt to track you down to consume your flesh.

Providence Journal reports 20 actors were hired to play the role of the living dead for The Walking Dead attraction. All 20 of the actors are being required to attend zombie boot camp, where they will learn how to perfect playing dead for the enjoyment of anyone who is brave enough to enter this attraction.

“We are expecting tremendous visitor demand for the Los Angeles experience this summer, due in large part to the abundance of both new and iconic attractions we offer to travelers from around the globe,” Ernest Wooden Jr., the chief executive of the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, said.

The theme park in Southern California fully expects the number of guests to increase considering just how large of a fan base The Walking Dead has.

Once you step inside of The Walking Dead the fun begins just the way fans expect it would – you are greeted with the famous hospital doors with the words “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” from the pilot episode of the series. Then, you will see flailing arms of zombie walkers trying to get the doors open.

According to the creative director of the park, John Murdy, the permanent attraction is marked very differently than what was featured during the Halloween Horror Nights. With the new budget and the fact that this is now a permanent attraction – the creative designers were able to give the attraction a whole lot more than it had when it was just a limited time feature. For this reason, The Walking Dead fans who experienced the feature when it was just for a limited time are encouraged to come and see the differences.

Another one of the creepy – and disturbing – features The Walking Dead fans get to enjoy has been nicknamed “Bicycle Girl,” according to USA Today. It is the upper torso of a zombie that crawls towards the guests within the attraction.

Naturally, The Walking Dead attraction is intended to be for mature audiences only. It was created to be realistic and believable based on the television show fans have come to enjoy. For this reason, it is not recommended for children or adults who are easily disturbed.

Are you a fan of The Walking Dead? Will you be making plans to head to this theme park to enjoy the new attraction?
