Kaley Cuoco Apologizes For Offensive Instagram Photo Of Her Dog Sitting On An American Flag

Kaley Cuoco’s Instagram account has come under fire after she posted a photo of her dogs sitting on the American flag to commemorate on July 4, apparently to commemorate Independence Day.

With the American flags wrapped around their necks, Cuoco’s dogs were looking festive as one of them lay on the American flag spread out on the floor.

The Big Bang Theory actress wasn’t the one who took the photo, however. According to Hollywood Life, the honor of taking the photo was granted to her dog sitter. Kaley only posted the photo via her Instagram account.

“Thank you the_pet_handler for taking such good care of the squad while I’m out of town. 4th of July pups!!!” Cuoco wrote on Instagram.

Little did she know that this Instagram photo faux pas would land her in hot water, as numerous offended netizens reminded her that placing the American flag on the ground is a violation of the U.S. flag code, not to mention the added insult of having her dogs sit on it.

Realizing her mistake, Cuoco deleted the Instagram photo on July 5, following it up with another photo bearing the image of a heart-shaped American flag.

In her lengthy caption, Kaley addressed controversy her July 4 Instagram post has caused, reminding everyone that she has the utmost respect for her country and that she is “a proud American in every sense of the word.”

“I would like to comment on a photo I posted yesterday, that has caused lots of controversy. First off, please know, I have the utmost respect for my country,” Cuoco, 30, captioned a photo of a heart-shaped American flag. “I am a proud American in every sense of the word. I understand the American flag stands for our freedom and represents American heroes, past and present.”

In the second half of her post, Kaley acknowledged her mistake and apologized to those who may have been offended by the Instagram photo.

Kaley Cuoco, who shot to stardom playing Penny in long-running comedy sitcom The Big Bang Theory, added that “living in the public eye, can be extremely difficult at times.”

“Every mistake and every imperfection is amplified,” she wrote. “I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always.”

“I sincerely apologize to anyone that has been offended by my previous post. This is no way reflects my feelings toward what the American flag represents. Living in the public eye, can be extremely difficult at times. Every mistake and every imperfection is amplified. I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always.”

While Kaley Cuoco’s love for her country may have been thrown into question following her error, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that her dogs mean the world to her. Known for her animal activism, Kaley has voiced out her opinion against numerous incidents of animal cruelty many times in the past.

Back in May, Kaley took to Instagram to weigh in on the tragic death of Harambe the gorilla, who was killed at the Cincinnati Zoo after being viewed as a threat to a boy who fell into his enclosure. The gorilla reportedly picked up and dragged the boy inside the enclosure before he was shot to death by a zoo employee.

“RIP #harambe Im sure I will get tons of backlash (per usual) I mean let’s be honest, I wear the wrong sweatpants and the entire world has something to say about it, but once again, another senseless horrendous animal being killed over people not using their brains,” the Big Bang Theory star, 30, captioned a photo of the late gorilla. “If you watch the footage, you see this gorgeous animal holding that child’s hand. Do with that what you will. As sad as this makes me, a part of me is happy for that amazing creature doesn’t have to live in captivity another day. Bring on the hate!!!!”
