Dog Thrown From Rooftop For A Viral Video Found Alive — Despite Suffering Broken Legs, The Canine Welcomed Rescuers

A dog that was thrown from a rooftop in India was rescued by an animal welfare activist. The young man confirmed the badly wounded canine survived the brutal and sadistic act.

A terrified canine was thrown off a rooftop in India by two people who were looking to create a viral video. Though the duo succeeded in hurling the defenseless pooch, it somehow survived the multi-storied fall. One of the animal rights activists, who has been urging social media users to capture those responsible for this senseless act of animal cruelty, posted a photo on Facebook, cradling a dog he says was the one that was thrown off the roof.

Activist Shravan Krishnan has been pretty persistent in bringing in the two persons who threw the dog for committing an act of animal cruelty. He has been following up with the local police in trying to bring those responsible in for questioning and further legal action. He says he found the pup Tuesday and posted a photo confirming the rescue, reported Times of India.

Krishnan confirmed the animal was badly hurt and was unable to walk properly. However, the dog is now under medical treatment, he added. He posted the photo on Facebook with a caption updating about the dog’s condition.

The video of the dog being thrown off the roof was first reported by Sally Kannan, an animal rights activist and outreach consultant at Humane Society International, on her Facebook page, reported Inquisitr. The video that was posted on YouTube was taken down as it violated the policies. However, many people actively shared the same on other social media platforms.

The short clip shows a male holding a dog by his neck and back. The dog clearly seems terrified, but does wag its tail occasionally. He looks into the camera with a menacing smile before launching the dog in the air and hurling it, like a garbage bag, off the rooftop. The camera then follows the dog’s fall till a bloodcurdling thud is heard followed by a sharp painful yelp. Many local news outlets reported the incident, adding the dog died after hitting the pavement. However, it appears the dog miraculously survived the fall, reported NDTV.

Warning: Disturbing video of the incident below!

Following the chilling spectacle of inhumane behavior, the Humane Society International/India announced a reward of Rs. 100,000 ($1,500) to anyone who can offer information that leads to the two individuals. Horrifyingly, the two individuals reportedly belong to a medical college in Chennai, a state in southern India. The youth, identified as Gautam Sudharshan and Ashish Pal, are supposedly in the final year of their education and would have become doctors after graduation.

Following the incident, many on the social media demanded the youths be expelled from the college and barred from practicing medicine. Meanwhile Chennai Police inquired with authorities about the duo, but discovered they ran away realizing the heat they were drawing. The police have released a circular asking the youth to turn themselves in, but locals say it is unlikely they will comply. Meanwhile, authorities who were sent to the hometowns of the youths confirmed the parents and locals have promised they would bring them to the police.

According to The Youth Magazine, a few students from the college had tried to report the incident a few days after the video surfaced; however, they were threatened with dire consequences. A case has been filed under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. If convicted, the youths could be jailed for their act.
