Man Throws Terrified Dog From Rooftop In Disturbing Video, Suspects On The Run

Update: The dog has been found alive and is now being taken care of.

A disturbing video in which a man is seen throwing a dog off a rooftop is going viral on social media. The incident, which reportedly took place in India, has left people shocked across the country. Efforts are already on to find the man who is clearly seen in the video throwing the terrified dog off the high building.

According to The Indian Express, which first reported the story, the video was shared by animal rights activist and outreach consultant at Humane Society International Sally Kannan on her Facebook page. The video, which is embedded below has been viewed more than 20,000 times since then.

In the text accompanying the video, Sally provides a description of the events and explains how viewers can help.

The cyber crime cell in Chennai is currently investigating the case.Humane Society International/India is offering a reward of 100,000 Rs to anyone who is willing to volunteer valid information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this evil. Humane Society International has offered a reward of 100,000 ($1,500) rupees to anyone who could provide information regarding the person seen in the video. Look at what this filthy and miserable excuse of a human being does to the poor doggy who keeps wagging her tail until the last moment… She kept trusting the man even when his dirty mind was planning the worst for her.”

In the video, the man is seen happily holding the dog, which appears to be a stray, by the neck as he smiles for the camera. The dog is visibly terrified but is still seen occasionally wagging its tail. Next, he is seen throwing the dog off the building as the animal cries. The dog falls on a grassy patch with a thud and is heard yelping in pain. While the fate of the dog was initially not known, a few hours later, we have information that the dog did not survive the fall.

A formal complaint was registered in the city of Chennai, where the incident was believed to have happened. Officials are currently investigating the case. Hours after the video was widely spread, a person posted on the video thread that they have some preliminary information regarding the man seen in the video. Ironically, the man seen in the video is being identified as a medical student. A person replying to the comment thread said the following.

“We have verified information from a reliable source that the two suspects are from Madha Medical college, Kundrathur. The names are Gautam Sudharshan and Ashish Pal doing their final year MBBS. Apparently the incident took place two weeks ago and the dog is no more. Chennai police have been 100 percent supportive and we are in the process of getting them arrested.”

Another person posted an image, supposedly of the rooftop from where the dog was thrown off. He also added that the two suspects are now on the run.

His post reads as follows.

“We have located the scene of crime. Gautam Sudharshan and Ashish Pal are on the run. Just a matter of time be the Police Nab them. We are pretty sure they would be caught tomorrow. T 13 Kundrathur police station has been extremely cooperative and swift with the investigation. We are just getting back home now, will continue the search tomorrow.

Meanwhile, people are already calling for the students to be dismissed and their license to practice to be revoked.
