Borderlands 2 is now only one week away from releasing on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. To give you something to do until the game’s release, developer Gearbox put together an interactive skill tree for each of the game’s classes.

Seeing as how Borderlands 2 introduces a few new classes on top of a re-imagining of two original classes, I imagine many of you are eager to go ahead and start building out your character of choice, and the interactive skill tree allows you to do just that.

It’s also a nifty tool to get you up to speed on what sort of skills and upgrades available to each of the game’s four classes. Most of the skills are passives that up your damage, health, crit, and so on, but there are a few interesting abilities that change up how you play the game such as Zer0′s “B0re” ability, which highlights enemy crit locations when the Action Skill is active.

Unfortunately, the skill tree isn’t exactly the best of the best. You’re not unable to take back points that you’ve spent in a skill once you’ve clicked on it, and there doesn’t appear to be a way to actually save your build for future reference, although I might have missed that.

Going over the skill trees for each character, it looks like every class has some interesting upgrades in each tree. If there was any complaint I had for the original Borderlands, it was that some of the trees were just flat-out uninteresting. That doesn’t appear to be the case with Borderlands 2, which is great to see.

Have you figured out what character you’ll be playing in Borderlands 2?
