WWE News: Fourth of July Raw Preview—Raw to Include Vickie Guerrero? Plus, John Cena’s ‘Real Meme’ Prank [Video]

The Fourth of July is upon us, and the WWE has a BBQ planned as well as an action-packed card for the July fourth edition of WWE Raw. The WWE universe was teased with a preview on WWE.com on what they might expect Monday night.

“Raw is hosting a huge cookout throughout Monday, and everyone on the roster is invited…including WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. Will The Lunatic Fringe bring chaos with a side of coleslaw to the festivities? Plus, who will come out on top in a 16-Man Elimination Tag Team Match pitting American Superstars against global competitors? Before your favorite Superstars fire up the grill, check out what’s in store on what promises to be an explosive, star-spangled edition of Monday night’s hottest show.”

WWE.com also confirmed that there will be a champion-versus-champion match; WWE Intercontinental champion The Miz will take on WWE World Heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose. Ambrose has been feuding with former champion Seth Rollins, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this contest ended with Rollins interfering in the match.

The United States Championship will also be on the line, as Titus O’Neil will challenge the reigning champion, the “Bulgarian Brute” Rusev. With Monday being a patriotic holiday — Rusev being hated by fans and O’Neil being loved by them — some speculate that the title will change hands on Raw, but don’t hold your breath. Rusev is one of the few pure heels in the WWE, and for him to defend his title successfully on the Fourth of July would be a great way to maintain his heat with the WWE universe.

WWE confirmed that a former WWE SmackDown General Manager will return on Raw.

“Once we learned that SmackDown will go live on USA Network Tuesday, July 19, former SmackDown authority figures — including Teddy Long, John Laurinaitis and Corporate Kane — have resurfaced to state why they should head up the blue brand in The New Era. Since Monday will be a celebration no one in the WWE Universe will want to miss, you can bet that at least one former GM will be looking to drop by.”

Former WWE SmackDown general managers include Booker T, Stephanie McMahon, and Paul Heyman, among others. Since they all have current positions with the company, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if it was one of them. However, Kurt Angle, David Otunga, Santino Marella, and Vickie Guerrero have also been general managers. Marella was recently released, and Otunga never really had any stardom within the company — so don’t expect the surprise appearance to be any of them.

Despite many rumors, Kurt Angle has not signed a contract with the company, and a returning Angle would be huge news if it ever happens; Kurt Angle appearing on Raw for nostalgic purposes would be a disappointing come-back. So that brings us to the superstar the crowd loves to hate, Vickie Guerrero. Don’t be surprised if in the middle of Raw you hear her voice interrupt the program with her classic phrase, “excuse me!”

Professional wrestling has often exploited patriotic emotions, and this tradition will continue Monday night. WWE has not yet reported who will be involved in the 16-Man Elimination Match, but WWE describes it as, “Team USA battles Team World.” This may be a perfect opportunity to bring back past patriotic wrestlers as a cameo on Raw, like “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Sgt. Slaughter. With it being a tag team match, the wrestling legend would not have to do much in the ring, and it would create a huge “pop” from the live audience. John Cena is the most patriotic wrestler currently on the WWE roster, so that begs the question: will Cena be a part of the 16-Man Tag Team Match?

John Cena has also been trending on the internet with a hilarious prank featuring the superstar and Cricket Wireless. For over a year now, buzzworthy Vine videos and Facebook memes have been trending with “unexpected John Cena.” An example of this includes a famous scene from the movie, The Shining. Jack Nicholson can be seen hacking down the bathroom door with an axe, and says, “Here’s John Cena”; Cena’s face then appears and his music hits.

Well, John Cena and Cricket teamed up to surprise fans, and they were delighted — and shocked.

John Cena has been feuding with A.J. Styles and The Club as of late; last week’s Raw ended with The Club beating down Cena and standing victorious over his battered body. WWE.com teased the question “Will Cena get payback against The Club?” Regardless of how Cena and The Club are involved on the card Monday night, you can bet that these superstars will collide once again on the Fourth of July edition of Raw.
