Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ Characters Nail And Fail Their Auditions

Watch Game of Thrones Queen Margaery and Ygritte come alive, a baby Arya, and even the hot and crazy Khal Drogo in this compilation of Game of Thrones audition pieces. There are some pretty good hits (and misses) you wouldn’t want to miss.

Warning: There are some spoilers for Season 6 of Game of Thrones ahead.

Game of Thrones just ended Season 6, and we are left with yet another painful 10 months of waiting for the next season to hit our screens. Of course, we are still hung over the last Game of Thrones episode and we are not ready just yet to close our laptops or turn off our screens. To help you get through your Game of Thrones withdrawal, above is a compilation of auditions by different actors and actresses that helped them earn their coveted Game of Thrones roles.

Some are pretty good characterizations of their Game of Thrones roles and it only makes sense why these actors and actresses have scored their respective roles.

Watching Maisie Williams as Arya Stark and Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark throw lines at each other (although, it looks like they are not in the same room) is quite nostalgic. Young Sansa and Arya just brings us back to Season 1 of Game of Thrones when all was fairly well with our dearest Arya still equipped with all her senses. Both of them just look so young and innocent.

And, even though we just got a few minutes of footage for Queen Margaery Tyrell, actress Natalie Dormer really shows how things on Game of Thrones must be done. Game of Thrones, no doubt, is huge on sex and violence (and we’re not complaining) and Dormer just knocked her lines out of the park on this one. Too bad we’re not seeing more of her spunk in Game of Thrones since she was killed off in The Winds of Winter.

Another dead Game of Thrones character that comes back to life in this Game of Thrones audition compilation is Ygritte, played by actress Rose Leslie. Watching her say “You know nothing, Jon Snow” is just too nostalgic and sad at the same time.

We also have quite a hefty amount of audition material from Emilia Clarke, who plays the Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, on Game of Thrones. The audition piece of Clarke we see in this compilation, however, is not a reading of a Targaryen script. Clarke’s piece in this compilation is an audition for a 2013 movie entitled Belle. Clarke, however, did not get the role. Clarke looks very young in this supposed Game of Thrones audition compilation and a lot of people who’ve watched the video are saying she’s not one of the best actresses we’ve seen in Hollywood based on the audition. Clarke, however, has grown a lot as Daenerys on Game of Thrones ever since and she now continues to be an amazing actress inside and outside the Game of Thrones franchise.

The Game of Thrones audition compilation ends with Jason Momoa doing a dance or a tribute of sorts as an audition for the role of Khal Drogo. We can remember that Khal Drogo was not much of an English speaker throughout Game of Thrones and we believe Momoa’s portrayal of Drogo in this compilation is pretty spot on.

And since it’s not included in this compilation, do watch Jack Gleeson audition for Game of Thrones’ beloved (or not really) villain, Joffrey Baratheon. He is absolutely phenomenal and he only proves he is the most spot on for the role.
