Chelsea Signs Michy Batshuayi, Striker ‘Feels Fantastic’ to Join The ‘Magnificent Club’

The Chelsea Football Club has had a big win after they completed Michy Batshuayi’s transfer from Marseille this Sunday.

The 22-year-old Belgian striker has completed signing a five-year contract with the team.

“I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career. I hope I can help Chelsea win many trophies during my time at Stamford Bridge.”

Batshuayi started his professional career at the Standard Liege back in 2011. Even at a young age, Batshuayi has already scored 44 goals in all his 201 games. He also made 21 goals in the 2013-14 Belgian Pro League. This has made him the second-highest scorer in the league. Before transferring to Marseille for a £4.5 million deal, he has won the Ebony Shoe Award. Batshuayi has been an important player for Marseille during the 2016 Coupe de France Final.

Batshuayi has made a good run in Marseille. He debuted for the team right after he signed. He began playing during Ligue 1 season with a 3-2 win at Bastia. He also became Dmitri Payet’s replacement during the last 11 minutes of the game.

It was October 29 when he scored his first goal, which defeated Rennes during the third round of the Coupe de la Ligue. Batshuayi rarely starts matches, but he was able to do 9 league goals for Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

Batshuayi has also made a fantastic performance against Saint-Étienne during the February 22 match last year, scoring twice within just 15 minutes of the game. However, the match concluded in a draw.

With his gaining traction in the football community, it has not come as a surprise that Chelsea has made their bet on him.

Batshuayi showed everyone that he has grown with each and every year that he has played on the field. He proved his skills to the fans during this final season in France, where he made this clinical eye goal. It was also a golden month for him last October, since he has made a goal for all of his league games, including the one where he faced Chelsea defender David Luiz.

Opening New Opportunities for Chelsea and Batshuayi

With an impressive run, Batshuayi has really proven himself worthy of being a Chelsea player. He even said in an interview that this has been his dream since he was a kid. Batshuayi is the third Belgian to join the team after Hazard and Thubaut Courtois.

Now set to follow Chelsea’s legendary Didier Drogba, Michy Batshuayi acknowledges that he has a lot to learn.

I’m very young and still have progress to make but I’m a very technical player and like to use both feet.

Batshuayi said he is looking forward to working with a new team and a new coach. This has been his biggest opportunity so far and he said it felt great to join a “club that really want to win.”

The striker has spoken with his co-Belgian teammates and he said they told him Chelsea is a magnificent team. He also got the chance to speak with Antonio, but “just briefly.”

Being a fan of the Premier League, Michy Batshuayi said he has watched it all the time, and his football idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, who he says was a “phenomenal player.

With Batshuayi’s optimism and skills, Chelsea has made a good choice in adding him to the team. As for Michy Batshuayi, he does not really want to be compared to Didier, and he is going to work hard to be who he is as a striker.

“We are different people, I totally respect the career Didier had at Chelsea and I am going to do my best.”
