Why didn’t the English go through? I don’t know. In football anything can happen in a game and, from what I saw, Iceland deserved it. It’s not just one player with them who makes the difference. Their whole team will cause problems for us.”

The French players and coaches have been full of praise for Iceland in the days leading up to the game, especially the deft long-throwing ability of Aron Gunnarsson.

And fans who watch the France vs. Iceland football match live online will see an Iceland team realistic about its chances. Lars Lagerbäck, the team’s joint-coach, said he realizes that France comes in as a favorite but said his team won’t be down on their chances.

If Iceland believes they can win, Lagerbäck said, then “I think we can cause them some problems.”

“The players will really enjoy it and at the same time be really focused and play a good game,” he said. “It’s not often you have a chance to get to a semi-final, so I think that’s motivation enough.”

Iceland has already played well beyond expectations, which could be a boost for Sunday’s match as they will be unburdened by expectations. Reporter Jóhann Sigurdsson, who covers for Euro2016.com, noted that whatever happens in Sunday’s match against France, Iceland will already return home as heroes.

“But that doesn’t mean they won’t go for the win – they will,” he wrote. “Their confidence has grown, especially after the victory against England, and they know that with another great performance they stand a chance against the hosts, who are burdened with the pressure of playing at home.”
