Amir Jennings, the toddler who disappeared back in November in South Carolina after his mother is said to have expressed she was having difficulty managing his care, has not been found — but his mother Zinah Jennings was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for her role in the child’s disappearance.

18-month-old Amir Jennings has still not been found, and his mom Zinah, 23, has been convicted of unlawful conduct after police say she repeatedly misled them about the boy’s whereabouts and refused to produce evidence that he was indeed safe and sound after her claim he was unharmed in December.

Zinah Jennings gave birth to another baby last week, but little Amir’s fate is still not known. And while prosecutors brought ten witnesses for their case, Jennings’ mother Jocelyn Jennings Nelson was one of only two witnesses to testify on behalf of her daughter in the disappearance of Amir Jennings. Nelson explained:

“She didn’t understand what her body was going through and the impact motherhood was having on her … At this point, Amir could be anywhere. … I will never stop looking for him.”

As the ruling was handed down, Judge Knox McMahon mentioned the fact that Amir Jennings has still not been accounted for, saying:

“I also do not know where Amir Jennings is … I know where his blanket is. I know where his blood is … There’s one innocent person, one blameless person, one person that cannot fend for himself in the world we live in, and that’s Amir Jennings.”

McMahon also said that Amir Jennings’ mom Zinah should receive counseling, and that she would be credited for the months she has served in prison since her arrest.
