Blake Shelton Jokes That He’s Miley Cyrus’ Real Dad As Gwen Stefani Spends Time With Her Sons

Blake Shelton’s close relationship with Miley Cyrus might already be making his bromantic partner, Adam Levine, a bit jealous. Season 11 of The Voice has started filming, and Blake recently revealed that Miley already feels like family to him; in fact, the country star thinks there might even be a chance that they’re biologically related. Blake has proved that he’s great with Gwen Stefani’s sons, but could the country half of Shefani handle having a wild child daughter like Miley?

As Rare Country reports, fans of The Voice got a small taste of the Blake/Miley dynamic when Blake Shelton responded to one of Miley Cyrus’ tweets. Miley showed Blake’s fans that she’s got a way with words by putting the “tee” in naughty and rocking a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Kiss My Country Ass,” which is the title of Blake’s anthem about being a proud “backwoods redneck.”

As you can see, Miley Cyrus celebrated the start of The Voice blind auditions by having a smoke. Blake Shelton responded to “We Can’t Stop” singer’s T-shirt shout-out by informing Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, that he might know where Miley’s wild streak comes from.

Some fans of The Voice might be upset that Gwen Stefani didn’t return to the show to compete against her cowboy boyfriend, but Blake Shelton is looking forward to working with Miley. As Entertainment Tonight points out, Blake and the Season 10 key adviser couldn’t be any more different—he’s an avid hunter and she’s a vegan, for example—but Blake insists that they genuinely like each other.

“We completely understand each other, and just because she lives her life one way and I live my life one way doesn’t mean we’re not friends. Because, God, if that was the case, I wouldn’t have—especially in this town, Los Angeles—everyone would hate me,” Blake revealed.

Blake has made similar comments about another girl from a different world who he’s obviously fond of, so perhaps it shouldn’t be all that shocking that he and Miley get along just fine.

“We could not be, on paper, any more different. I mean, I’m a country singer and she’s a ska, rock, pop, whatever it is…and it’s just an odd idea. But man, it’s a lot of fun. I’ve gotta be honest about that,” Blake told Today of his relationship with Gwen Stefani.

One of the biggest differences between Gwen and Blake is that Gwen is a parent and Blake is not. Shefani fans might want Gwen Stefani to spend all of her free time with Blake Shelton, but she has three other boys that also need her attention. According to the Daily Mail, she spent Friday hanging out with her sons, and she shared an Instagram photo that proves that Blake Shelton is influencing 7-year-old Zuma’s style. As you can see, Gwen’s son is wearing a cowboy shirt that was most likely purchased at one of the Western wear stores where Blake stocks up on his favorite plaid tops.

According to Gwen Stefani, she and her sons are enjoying a family vacation ahead of her This Is What the Truth Feels Like tour, which begins on July 12. Gwen shared a sweet picture of her youngest son, 2-year-old Apollo, making the most of his time with his momma by giving her big smooch and playing with her ear.

While Gwen was vacationing with her boys, Blake Shelton was busy performing at Summerfest in Milwaukee. According to OnMilwaukee, Blake made sure to let the crowd know that there would be no repeat of his Country Jam surprise duet with Gwen Stefani; early on during the concert, he told fans not to expect any guest appearances.

However, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will likely meet again while they’re both on the road; Gwen has said that they’re trying to coordinate their schedules so they can treat a few lucky crowds to a performance of their duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” Shefani fans will just have to wait patiently for the mother of three and the possible father of Miley to deliver on this promise.
