Roseanne Barr Accuses Louis C.K. Of Sexual Misconduct

Comedian Roseanne Barr has never been one to hold her tongue and will lash into anyone she believes deserves her scorn. One of the people she is ripping into now is comedian Louis C.K. The unfortunate thing here is that Roseanne has no evidence to back up her claims outside of hearsay, but she feels comfortable throwing shade at Louis C.K. anyway.

The comments came in an interview with the Daily Beast, when Roseanne was talking about Bill Cosby.

“It’s not just Bill Cosby. Some of the biggest comics, males, are doing some terrible things. And they’re about to get busted.”

That is when Roseanne went into a rant about how male comedians used to treat female comedians on the stand-up circuit. Roseanne rightly argued that males would often make sexually offensive jokes about female comedians before they took the stage, which immediately made the comedian the joke instead of the person delivering the jokes. Male comedians never introduced each other in that way.

Roseanne even said that the attitude of sexually degrading a woman was frowned upon in later years, but it still took place in other areas off the stage. That is when Roseanne leveled the criticism and accusations at Louis C.K. While she said that Billy Cosby was guilty of it, she said that Louis C.K. was about to get busted for it as well.

“I’ve been speaking up. It’s Louis C.K., locking the door and masturbating in front of women comics and writers. I can’t tell you—I’ve heard so many stories. Not just him, but a lot of them. And it’s just par for the course.”

Roseanne didn’t back off her allegations against Louis C.K. either. She backed up the allegations in a follow-up but added one very interesting caveat. Roseanne said that she has no firsthand knowledge that Louis C.K. ever did anything like she described, but she has heard other women make the allegations and that it has been talked about for years.

This animosity between Roseanne and Louis C.K. goes back a few years as well. In 2015, Death and Taxes Mag reported that Jen Kirkman made some comments for a podcast where she blasted into an unnamed comedian. She said the comedian was very famous, probably Bill Cosby-level. She said he is a “known perv” and that he never raped her but made her life very uncomfortable if she was to tour with him. Shen then said her career would be over with if she named his name.

Kirkman’s resistance to name names didn’t stop Roseanne from stepping up to the plate. Roseanne went straight to Twitter and made a comment that the quote concerned Louis C.K.

Sadly, that tweet by Roseanne might have hit too close to home because Kirkman then deleted her podcast episode where she made the comments, possibly fearing for her career. Flavorwire reported that Kirkman did a podcast with Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick and said that “it’s kind of obvious who I was talking about,” although she still didn’t call out Louis C.K. by name.

She then said that her comments were just about what it is like to be a female comedian. She then said taking the podcast episode down wasn’t because she was scared she would lose her career, but because she didn’t want it to be all people wanted to talk to her about.

Louis C.K. remains one of the biggest draws on the comedy scene, proved by two surprise shows in Washington, D.C., that sold out in just minutes. However, if any of these rumors are true, fans have proven that they won’t stand for this nonsense in the past, and it could kill his career. With a major name like Roseanne Barr voicing her opinion of Louis C.K., it will open a lot more ears in the future.
