‘The Purge’ And Election Year Are The New American Horror Story [Video]

The Purge: Election Year is a fictional horror movie that is about to drop in theaters, but it echoes sentiments of society that are currently taking place. With all of the popular fiction on TV and film this year, there is enough reason to believe that election year in real life is the new, great American Horror Story, which could conceivably in some way be a theme for the FX television series of the same name.

If you were to consider what The Purge: Election Year is really about, the audience gets to see a society where everything is about that one day a year when they can do what they want, kill who they want and destroy what they want. But, there is one caveat that the people in The Purge world cannot do, and that is kill a political leader, or the ones who hold office. In this fictional world, those leaders are called the “New Founding Fathers,” and they created this annual holiday that singles out the poor to be killed, maimed, and mutilated with no consequences to the perpetrators.

The trailer for The Purge: Election Year clearly shows that when a new politician arrives on the scene and challenges the status quo, even better considering it is a woman, the values of the annual Purge get threatened and the New Founding Fathers have to find a way to silence her – an outsider.

So here, in The Purge: Election Year, we have a woman who is running for political office and campaigning on a platform that calls for an end to the violence in the annual Purge.

That is the point in the trailer, where you really need to pause and see what is happening in real life. In this fictional universe of The Purge: Election Year, vi.e. were meet a woman who is trying to change the status quo that puts the lower class, the poor, at an extreme disadvantage; all too often in this world, they are the victims that lose their lives during the annual Purge.

Does this sound like something you might have heard already, just with a few parallel exceptions? In the current climate, the Purge is something that could be playing out all over the country, or maybe even the world. In a society of laws, are there any that put the poor at a disadvantage? In a society of mass-shootings, do the wealthy ever really fall victim? In a society of economic collapse, do the wealthy still survive and pay themselves big bonuses?

Real American society may just be the society that has been recreated in The Purge: Election Year, just with a few subtle changes to make sure the audience knows exactly what the Purge is really about. The film really does not hold back, either.

Audiences of The Purge: Election Year will see thugs with guns and masks patrolling the streets with automatic firearms that can kill massive amounts of people in seconds. They see wealthy people paying the less fortunate people to come into their homes and allow them to “Purge” themselves, “safely.” They see politicians going on TV and encouraging the people of this fictional American society to participate in the annual Purge. They see public service announcements that do the same, clearly showing smiling middle-class people participating in the Purge, without the bloody violence.

In real life, we also have a woman running for the highest office in the land. We also have a woman who is calling for an end to the violence and bloodshed of mass shootings. We also have a woman who is calling for a ban on assault rifles with reasonable gun control. In real life, we also have a woman who is running on a platform that challenges the status quo. In real life, we actually have this American horror story panning out.

So, is it possible that the horrifying story as shown in The Purge: Election Year, is a parallel of Hillary Clinton and the NRA?
