$150 Tabeo Tablet To Hit Toys ‘R’ Us Stores In October

An unlikely competitor has thrown its hat into the tablet race. Toys “R” Us will be releasing the Tabeo Tablet this October for $150.

Troy Peterson, Vice President, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Toys”R” Us, said:

“Over the past year, we’ve spent considerable time talking to parents and children to determine what features and functions they really want in a kids’ tablet, resulting in tabeo … We are proud that tabeo offers robust and flexible parental controls that can help protect children as they surf the Internet, and we are pleased to offer the tabeo App Store, which features only kid-safe content carefully curated by the Toys”R”Us team.”

According to a Press Release, the 7-inch Tabeo Tablet will be sold exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores starting October 21 for $149.99.

The new tablet will come pre-loaded with 50 entertainment, education, and exploration apps including Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope, Temple Run, Discovery Kids Putterbugs, Operation Math, Putt Putt Zoo, and Freddy Fish. The ap will also feature a few children’s stories pre-loaded into the Tabeo library.

The Tabeo will come with 4 GB of storage for additional games and books. It can be expanded through the SDHC slot to 32 GB.

Mashable reports that Toys “R” Us won’t be selling the tablet via online retailers like Amazon. The store is hoping that the exclusive tablet will give parents a reason to shop at Toys “R” Us during the holiday season.

Peterson said:

“It is our strategic position to offer products that you can’t find anywhere [else] or be compared on price.”

Do you think the Tabeo Tablet will be a hit?
