John Mayer Is Still Single And ‘Excited’ About It

In case you were keeping track of John Mayer’s love life, the crooner recently revealed that, yes, he’s still single.

The musician, who was once candid at all times about his love life but now keeps things close to his chest, opened up about his current relationship status during a taping of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this past Tuesday.

Not only did he reveal that he’s single, but John Mayer is also looking for his next new love. This time around, the singer says that he wants a serious relationship and not a fling like he’s had in the past.

“I’m ready to roll. I’m more mature than I’ve ever been. The stage is set, but I’m excited for a meet cute at some point. I’m single and I’m excited about the future.”

If you remember, John Mayer dated famous faces like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Aniston, Minka Kelly, Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, and Katy Perry. That said, it was after his very public break-up with Jessica Simpson that Mayer became unhinged, according to some fans, and went all out to describe their sex life.

In a now-famous 2010 interview with Playboy, Mayer said that Simpson was like “a drug.”

Mayer continued, “And drugs aren’t good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me.”

H continued with an explicit tangent about sex with Jessica Simpson, saying, “Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm. Did you ever say, ‘I want to quit my life and just f*****’ snort you? If you charged me $10,000 to f*** you, I would start selling all my s*** just to keep f****** you.'”

As for his relationship with Jennifer Aniston, he only had nice things to say about her.

When asked in the same interview if the song “Heartbreak Warfare” was about her, Mayer said, “That woman was the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person.”

Of their break-up, Mayer said that it wasn’t his obsession with social media that split them apart, but it was a difference they shared.

“That was a big difference. The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she’s still hoping it goes back to 1998. She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction. And I always said, ‘These are the new rules.'”

Back then Mayer, clearly brooding and hurting over his break-ups, said, “I hate being the heartbreaker. Hate it. If I date somebody and it doesn’t work out, it’s another nightmare for me.”

John Mayer was raked over coals for his “sexual napalm” comment, but three years later, he saw the error of his ways. In an interview with CBS’ Sunday Morning, Mayer said he treated Simpson badly.

“I was just a jerk,” said Mayer.

The singer came around when he realized that he couldn’t make everyone like him, and that meant not feeding the press with damaging quotes.

“It’s very liberating when you finally realize it’s impossible to make everyone like you. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction.”

Mayer’s last big relationship was with singer Katy Perry, and that lasted on and off for four years before they called it quits in 2015. Since then, Katy Perry moved on to actor Orlando Bloom, and Mayer is still looking for his one true love.
