Heather Dubrow’s Marriage: They Only Fight About ‘Real Housewives Of Orange County’

Heather Dubrow has been on The Real Housewives of Orange County for a few years now, and it sounds like she’s learning how to love the reality television spotlight. In the beginning, Heather was very concerned about how people would perceive her, and even her co-stars made fun of her. Dubrow was labeled as being a very uptight person who needed everything to be perfect. And that seemed like a complete mismatch when looking at her husband, Terry Dubrow, who just wanted to have fun. Fans quickly saw their dynamic as he wanted onion rings with lobsters, while Heather wanted things her way.

According to a new Bravo report, Heather Dubrow is now revealing that things are well in her marriage and that trouble didn’t start to surface until The Real Housewives of Orange County came into their lives. Dubrow recently opened up to the Huffington Post to discuss how her marriage has changed over the past many years. The two just celebrated 18 years of marriage together, so one can imagine they have found their groove. As it turns out, their first real fights were about The Real Housewives of Orange County.

“We bicker, but we never really fight about anything big like money. The only thing we’ve ever fought about is the show. Our first couple of years on the show was very difficult for me, because I was going from scripted to unscripted. I was going from being at home with my kids to doing this,” Heather Dubrow explains during her interview, revealing that she had a really hard time letting her guard down.

Before Heather became a famous housewife, she was working as an actress in Hollywood. While she may not have been the next Angelina Jolie, it sounds like she was making quite the name for herself. Dubrow was going from a scripted world where she could unwind at home to a world where the cameras would be everywhere in her home. And this change was a bit stressful for her.

“Terry thought it was all hilarious, he would make jokes at my expense, because he didn’t care, he was a doctor. For me, I was very hung up wondering how this was going to look and I had a really hard time releasing myself. So he and I would argue about the show. That’s why I think in the first few seasons it looked like we were really fighting, because that was all we fought about. Finally I thought to myself, ‘OK, I can do this,'” Heather Dubrow explains on her blog, sharing that it did take her some time to adjust to everything.

On this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Heather Dubrow pointed out that it had been three years since Terry said he would slow down with work — and it still hasn’t happened. And Dubrow admits that her husband would work on some things, including how he puts his family first. But rather than pointing the finger, Heather admits that they both need to work on a few key issues.

“As far as Terry and I go, I think the key is couple of things. Communication above all. We kind of merged our careers also, which has been kind of weird, but also exciting and fun,” Heather Dubrow reveals, adding, “We have really blended our worlds together and we get to do really cool, interesting things together.”
