NBA Rumors: Chandler Parsons Considering Options Outside Of Dallas Mavericks


The Dallas Mavericks are looking to upgrade their roster this summer. They have plenty of players becoming free agents. Chandler Parsons has already told the Mavericks that he intends on becoming a free agent. According to ESPN, the former Florida Gators star is considering all of his options. Parsons will more than likely be demanding a maximum contract during free agency.

The Houston Rockets selected Chandler Parsons with the 38th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Parsons is a rare second round gem. He has the size, versatility, and basketball IQ. Parsons can drive into the paint, facilitate the offense, and shoot off the dribble. He has all the tools to become a superstar.

Chandler Parsons spent his first three seasons with the Houston Rockets. During his last year with the Rockets, he averaged 16.6 points, four assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. Parsons became a restricted free agent that summer. The Dallas Mavericks offered Parsons a tthree-yeardeal worth $46 million. The Rockets declined to match the offer.

The Dallas Mavericks couldn’t get the full potential out of Chandler Parsons because of injuries. He only played 66 games and 61 games in his first two seasons with the Mavericks. Parsons wasn’t able to find his rhythm after his knee injuries.

Chandler Parsons’ knee injury shouldn’t be a concern for teams that are interested in him. Specialists have given Parsons clearance to resume full basketball activities. They are optimistic that his knee wouldn’t affect him long term.

Last summer, Chandler Parsons played a key role for the Dallas Mavericks. He was the unofficial recruiting coordinator. Parsons helped convince DeAndre Jordan to leave the Los Angeles Clippers to come join the Dallas Mavericks. Things didn’t work out too well for the Mavericks. Doc Rivers and company were able to convince Jordan to stick with the Clippers.

Chandler Parsons is looking forward to being recruited by other franchises. He is open to the possibility of returning to the Dallas Mavericks. Several teams are expected to go after Parsons this summer.

With the salary cap rising to $94 million this summer, most teams in the NBA will be able to sign a free agent to a maximum deal. Chandler Parsons will be commanding a max contract in free agency. His starting salary for the first year will be $22 million.

The Dallas Mavericks aren’t making Chandler Parsons their main priority this summer. They are trying to lure Kevin Durant to join them. The former Texas Longhorns star isn’t expected to meet with the Mavericks. The next set of players they are expected to go after are Mike Conley and Hassan Whiteside. If they don’t manage to get either of those players, the Mavericks are interested in resigning Parsons.

Even if the Dallas Mavericks aren’t making Chandler Parsons their main priority, other teams will be going after him. One team that might go after Parsons is the Houston Rockets. They are looking to retool their roster to make a playoff run next season. Parsons would be a good fit for the Rockets. He can play both forwards positions. Parsons has the handles of a point guard in the body of a small forward.

Another team that might be willing to pay Chandler Parsons this summer is the Orlando Magic. They are looking to improve their roster to fight for a spot in the NBA Playoffs next season. During the draft, the Magic traded for Serge Ibaka for Victor Oladipo. Adding Parsons would give the Magic a number one or two option on offense.

Chandler Parsons is looking forward towards free agency this summer. He will be looking to join a team that will give him a chance to chase an NBA Championship.
