Keith Urban And Nicole Kidman Celebrate Anniversary Worlds Apart

It seems as though country singer Keith Urban and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, have been anticipating and planning their tenth wedding anniversary all year with each of them gushing over the other in a long line of public interviews. It seemed like nothing could ruin their special day, but we all know what they say about the best laid plans, and so it is with the anniversary of Nicole and Keith. Their career paths diverged at just the wrong moment to keep the couple separated on the evening of their anniversary, but that doesn’t mean Urban and Kidman didn’t still find a way to celebrate.

The Nicole Kidman And Keith Urban Wedding Anniversary Is Brought To You Courtesy Of FaceTime

Initially, the plan was for Nicole to join Urban for the Boston leg of his Ripcord world tour, so they could celebrate their anniversary together, but, as often happens with film and television production schedules, Nicole found that her shooting schedule would keep her from making the date. Ms. Kidman had to remain in her homeland of Australia, where she’s currently filming Season 2 of Top of the Lake for The Sundance Channel.

Mr. Urban wasn’t to be defeated so easily, however. Keith paused his Mansfield, Massachusetts concert on Saturday, June 25 to FaceTime with Nicole Kidman, explaining the situation to the audience.

“We book the tour at the beginning of the year and June 25 was going to happen in Boston,” Urban told his fans. “I said to Nic, ‘I can’t work on our anniversary, and so maybe we’ll play Boston another time.’ And she said, ‘What about I come up to Boston instead?’ I said, ‘That’s a great plan!’ She said, ‘I’ll come up for our anniversary. You’ll play that night and have fun and then the next day, we’ll hang around in Boston. We’ll have a great time.'”

The event wasn’t a surprise to Keith’s fans. Throughout the concert, front row fans held up signs wishing congratulations to Urban and Kidman on their 10 years together, which only made Urban feel that much more special on the anniversary date. He thanked his fans for the signs and for understanding the FaceTime timeout, which was just a brief conversation, as Ms. Kidman was driving with their children, Sunday, 7, and Faith, 5.

Nicole Kidman Is Keith Urban’s Number One Fan

Earlier this month, Ms. Kidman accompanied her husband to the 2016 CMT Music Awards, where she revealed that her favorite song on Urban’s new album is the duet he performs with Carrie Underwood. The song is titled “The Fighter.”

“I love it,” exclaimed Kidman on the red carpet, prior to stepping inside for the awards ceremony. “All I can say is thank God for Carrie Underwood because it’s so easy to lip sync to her – she’s so good!”

Also on that album is the song “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” which ended up earning Keith Urban two nominations at the CMT Music Awards. At the event, Urban commented that he feels each one of his albums signifies just where he is in life at the time in which it was released. In comparing Ripcord to his life at this moment, Urban commented that the album is a “big” and “buoyant” representation.

Keith, of course, performed at the awards ceremony, and while Urban is thrilled at every opportunity to perform, it’s difficult to determine who was more excited about the performance. Nicole Kidman took every opportunity to gush over her husband’s talents.

“Because he’s been playing since he was 6 and because he loves playing – there’s something in that,” Kidman says. “He doesn’t get nervous; he just can’t wait to get up there.”
