Blake Lively Uses Ryan Reynolds And Baby Stories To Promote ‘The Shallows’

Blake Lively is coming from a triumphant box office weekend, her new movie The Shallows having exceeded everyone’s expectations. Maybe some of the success was due to the fact that she used stories of her husband Ryan Reynolds and her baby James so much to promote the movie! Nothing like a good supportive husband and a cute baby to help her with her career.

While everyone had their doubts about the shark flick that Blake was starring in, it looks like the critics are loving the movie. In fact, The Shallows has exceeded even the producer’s expectations of earning a measly $7 million to opening with over $16 million.

“Sony cannily moved their ‘Blake Lively versus a shark’ thriller from its intended June 29th slot to this past Friday, both to get out of the way of The Purge: Election Year and to position itself as a leggy beach-friendly summer offering,” reports Forbes. “And then when the film ended up being quite good, the added boost of strong reviews (with many proclaiming that the simple survival tale was something of an antidote to blockbuster overdose) allowed it to be the buzzy film of the weekend.”

Of course, through all this success, the 28-year-old actress is not forgetting her sense of humor that kept her alive during the grueling months she had to face with paparazzi while she took care of baby James.

Blake and Ryan’s jokes have become more sexual this year. Ryan has grabbed his wife’s breasts for Instagram, and they continue to make fun of each other as well as their newfound life as parents.

She definitely uses her love story with Ryan Reynolds to grab the public’s attention. In fact, her husband recently recounted the time that they totally fell for each other, hinting that they are a match made in heaven.

“It was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had come and gone, all that stuff, we were both single,” Ryan said to People Magazine. “We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date for that respective party because we were just like fireworks.”

And now that she is expecting a second baby with Ryan Reynolds, they have officially entered the territory of obsessive parents.

“I’m one of five kids; my husband’s one of four,” she added. “We’re officially breeders. You can go on our website and we will give you some of our children.”

The fact that they are having such a good time with their first daughter possibly charted their lives of adoring parents.

“She’s always doing something fun and exciting,” Blake said. “She’s the most fun, funny human being I’ve ever been around in my life.”

The Shallows star is very defensive about her family life, to the point where she despises talking about it sometimes.

“All my eggs are in one basket, and that’s my family,” the 28-year-old actress said to Marie Claire. “That’s where my heart is. That’s where my everything is… My family: That’s the thing that I feel most protective of and the thing that I feel is the most exposed when I feel exploited.”

But it also looks like she and Ryan are ready for some change. They were spotted earlier this month hunting for a new apartment in Manhattan, showing their desire to move to the city after spending more than a year in upstate New York.

“While their stunning country home has all the space in the world for the ‘litter’ of kids this mom wants, seems this couple are needing a little more space in the city for their growing family,” reports Daily Mail. “It appears Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds may be talking a lead from Blake’s tummy and expanding their property portfolio. The pair were seen checking out some places in New York on Wednesday, with the 38-year-old actress’ bump suggesting they do not have long to look.”
