Is Taylor Swift’s Voice Featured On Calvin Harris’ New Single? The Internet Thinks So

Fans were holding out hope for a collaboration when Calvin Harris was dating Taylor Swift. Now, it looks like they’ll never get one since the singer has clearly moved on with British actor Tom Hiddleston. But fans are still convinced that Taylor Swift’s voice is featured on Calvin Harris’ new single with Rihanna.

Calvin Harris collaborated with Rihanna on their new single, “This Is What You Came For,” or at least that’s what they want you think. Some fans are convinced that they hear Taylor Swift’s voice in the song’s refrain. While Harris’ or Swift’s reps have not yet confirmed or denied the rumors about the backing vocals, it’s clear that Rihanna is heavily featured on the song.

The reason why fans think they hear the singer’s voice is probably because it sounds like the type of song that Taylor would sing. The repetitive lyrics go, “Baby, this is what you came for. Lightning strikes every time she moves, and everybody’s watching her, but she’s looking at you.”

Back in April, Swift, 26, took to Instagram to coyly promote the song at Coachella by wearing a black bomber jacket with a lightning bolt on the back — the same lightning bolt that’s seen on the single’s album artwork.

So, fans are convinced that Taylor’s vocals are spliced in with Rihanna’s. Even though the singer does not have any credits on the song, Alex Castello, a music producer from Los Angeles (who did not work on Harris’ new song), told Teen Vogue that “stuff like that can be hidden in the track and you wouldn’t even know about it.”

However, he quickly added, “Taylor doesn’t even leave her music on Spotify because she believes that artists should be credited and paid respectfully.”

So, it’s unlikely that you hear Swift’s vocals in the song since she likes to receive credit when credit’s due. But, Swift and Harris, 32, were dating at the time that the song dropped and she did heavily promote it on social media.

Fans are still convinced that some of the “ooh ooh oOOhs” are actually Taylor’s voice. It does sounds like Taylor in some parts. Listen to the “oohs” for yourself, starting at 1:18.

Even celebrity gossip blog Hollywood Life did some thorough investigating on the theory, first reported by Glamour. An inside source told the outlet, “This is 10,000% true” about Swift’s voice being on the track. Even though it was previously reported that Swift didn’t have any credits on the track, it does appear that she has a writing credit on the song, which has been changed to an alias name of Nils Sjöberg.

Rumors swirled earlier this year about a possible collaboration between Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift. During an interview on On-Air with Ryan Seacrest back in April, Harris was asked if he was ever collaborating with his superstar girlfriend. Harris said that he was only working with people that he “loves working with.”

“I can’t see it happening though. No. She’s about to take a long break,” he confirmed to the radio host.

A month prior, a report in the Sun revealed that the Scottish DJ and producer refuses to work with Taylor because of how he mixed business with pleasure with former girlfriend Rita Ora.

“Calvin’s next single is ready but the label is keen for him to get a big female US star to collaborate on it. They know he attracts amazing names because everyone wants to work with him. He has already worked with Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. They floated the idea of him working with Taylor but he politely declined it.

“Calvin has seen how sour things can turn when working with someone he’s dating. He is very serious about Taylor and doesn’t want to rock the boat. He’s smitten. Instead, he is in talks with Beyonce as he’s always wanted the pair to work together. She is a big fan. He loved her feature on Naughty Boy’s dance single Runnin’ (Lose It All) last year.”

It was wise of him to not make the same mistake the second time around, seeing that his split with Swift has gotten ugly in recent weeks. Both of the exes have removed the photos of each other on their respective Instagram accounts. As for Swift’s voice being featured on Harris’ new single, that has yet to be confirmed.
