Microsoft Unveils Special Edition ‘Game Of Thrones’ Xbox One And It Looks Awesome [Video]

To commemorate the final episode of one of the most popular shows on television right now, Game of Thrones, Microsoft has pulled the wraps off a special edition Game of Thrones Xbox One. It is not for sale, but you can snag one by entering a contest on Xbox France’s social pages.

Xbox France has the competition running on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In fact, the Xbox France Instagram page has a really cool photo spanning across nine separate images that shows up the moment you open their page.

The tweet by Xbox France’s reads, “RT & tweet #XboxLovesGoT to win the #XboxOne collector #GameOfThrones & the integral box.”

All you have to do is retweet the tweet in question or tweet anything with the hashtag #XboxLovesGoT to win this collector’s edition Xbox One. It is truly a collector’s edition because there are only six pieces of this crazy-looking Xbox One, and you’d definitely be part of an elite exclusive list if you manage to win one.

We are unsure if there is any location-based restriction on entering the contest and suggest that you retweet the post regardless.

The new Game of Thrones Edition Xbox One does look quite cool. The ornate-looking console has really intricate designs all over, with some swirling metal pieces that look like rings on top of it, making it appear quite regal but not very space effective considering the Xbox One is already a bulky device. Even the controller looks much different from a regular Xbox One controller. It is black and has golden designs all over it. Also, the power button glows like wildfire. We are definitely drooling after the entire package. Interestingly, it also comes with a free Blu-ray box set of the Game of Thrones show, which is definitely not a bad addition at all.

This is a good way to push the Xbox One console now by selling a collector’s edition of the console considering Microsoft announced a new slimmer and apparently more powerful Xbox One S at the recently concluded E3 gaming expo. The tech giant also unveiled Project Scorpio, a console with six teraflops of power slated to release by the end of 2017.

However, NDTV Gadgets reported that Phil Spencer, who is at the helm of affairs at Xbox for Microsoft, made multiple contradictory statements about the future of the Xbox at the E3 event and later as well.

Firstly, he stated that the Xbox One S is more powerful than the Xbox One, therefore making the Xbox One obsolete within just two years of its launch. However, NDTV Gadgets also reports that multiple developers and sources close to the publication have confirmed that the Xbox One S is not more powerful than the Xbox One. Spencer also claimed that players would need a 4K TV to use the Xbox console codenamed Project Scorpio. However, he backtracked on those claims by stating that Microsoft-exclusive games like Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 will run smoothly on the Project Scorpio console and not on the Xbox One S.

In April, Microsoft had also showcased an Iron Man-themed Xbox One to celebrate the release of Captain America: Civil War, which was exclusive to France. Microsoft also showcased a really cool Design Labs project, where you could make custom-colored controllers.

By the way, lest we forget, the last episode of this season of Game of Thrones has received some really rave reviews, and viewers are all over the social media taking about it.
