Chris Evans Is Jenny Slate’s ‘Dream 7th Grade Boyfriend’: Couple Caught Cuddling At ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ Premiere

Chris Evans and Jenny Slate made their relationship Hollywood official when they stepped out on the red carpet for the premiere of The Secret Life of Pets in New York City on Saturday. Us Weekly reports that the happy couple were full of smiles and posed for pictures at the David H. Koch Theater; Slate in a form-fitting lace Huishan Zhang dress, and Evans in a polo shirt and baseball hat.

“It’s kind of like I got my dream 7th grade boyfriend. We didn’t know each other growing up, but we grew up about a half-hour away from each other. We’ve been friends for a while.”

Jenny Slate is the voice behind spunky Pomeranian Gidget in The Secret Life of Pets, and the New York premiere is the first time the new couple appeared together at a high-profile event, although they have been seen out and about and recently enjoyed a double date with his brother. They have mutually discussed their instant attraction and the feeling that they have known each other for a long time, despite meeting only a few months ago while filming the drama Gifted. They couldn’t stop gushing about each other on Anna Faris’ Unqualified podcast, and it was apparent something significant was going one.

There has been some chatter that the 34-year-old Captain America: Civil War star was a compelling reason for Jenny Slate ending her three-year marriage to film editor Dean Fleischer-Camp, which was reportedly an amicable split. Officially, Slate and Fleischer-Camp simply grew apart.

Chris Evans has been linked to several women in his industry. Jessica Biel, Lily Collins, and Sandra Bullock are all said to be exes, and it was rumored that he was back on with actress Minka Kelly in January. It appeared he may have been romantically interested in his Avengers: Age of Ultron co-star Elizabeth Olsen after he was caught staring at her breasts, but that was him merely admiring her assets. Evans seems quite smitten and relaxed with the 34-year-old Saturday Night Live alum, which is bad news for anyone jockeying for position.

Jenny Slate is best known for her role as Donna Stern in Obvious Child, and the comedian and voice artist is also the co-creator of the Marcel the Shell with Shoes On short films and children’s book series. She describes her The Secret Life of Pets character Gidget as “50 percent Fluff, 110 percent tough,” in an interview with Refinery29.

“She is a white Pomeranian fluffball-type dog with a pink bow. She’s very small, very polite, and sort of positive in an almost nuclear type of way. Just really, really atomically positive, but also really brave. I think she has all these qualities without being showy about that. It’s just kind of the way that she is. She’s just kind of a little engine that runs. She’s very, very fun to play. She is in love with Max, a dog who lives across the way… When he gets lost, she rallies the pets in the building to go on an adventure to try to find him. It’s really cute and really funny.”

The Secret Life of Pets is produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Studios, and in addition to Jenny Slate, stars Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Ellie Kemper, Albert Brooks, and Louis C.K. Gifted, starring Chris Evans, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer, McKenna Grace, and Lindsay Duncan hasn’t received a release date yet, but is scheduled for later this year.
