Watch West Indies Vs. Australia Cricket Stream Live: Tri-Series Championship Final — Can Windies Add 4th Title Of 2016?

West Indies look to continue their cricket renaissance when they face Australia in the championship final of a tri-nation series that will stream live Sunday as the Windies could add their fourth trophy of 2016 with a one-day international match victory over the reigning World Cup champions.

The West Indies men’s senior cricket team had faltered over the previous year, with the high point being a quarterfinal appearance in the 2015 Cricket World Cup where they fell to eventual runners-up New Zealand by 143 runs.

But 2016 saw the once-mighty Windies thrust themselves back to the top of world cricket, taking the championship of the T20 World Cup in India back in March.

On the same day that the West Indies men won the World T20, the Windies women also captured the women’s cricket version of the T20 World Cup, defeating Australia.

The dual triumph for West Indies came just weeks after the Caribbean islands multi-national cricket program collected the Under 19 World Cup as well.

The Tri-Series, played in three different Caribbean countries — Guyana and St. Kitts before concluding in Barbados — may not be quite on the level of a World Cup. But the competition pit host West Indies against the World Champions Australia — who still hold the ICC Number One ranking for ODI cricket — as well as the third-ranked team in the world in the South Africa Proteas.

West Indies rank only eighth on the ICC ODI world table — but they powered past the Proteas by a decisive 100 runs on Friday in Bridgetown, Barbados to win their third match of the tournament in which each team played six and send South Africa packing.

First ball is scheduled for 1 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time at the 11,000-seat Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados — the largest sports facility on the island — on Sunday, June 26. That start time will also be 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time in the United States, 10 a.m. Pacific.

But as much as West Indies want to grab that fourth trophy of what has already been a year of rebirth for the West Indies cricket program, the world champions Australia have their own motivations for winning the tri-series.

“This team is trying to put its own print on trying to be a great Australian cricket team. We’ve had great success in the past but that means nothing, besides the fact that we have a great history and high expectation,” said Australia acting head coach Justin Langer. “Some of the guys have played in World Cup finals and that experience is vital but some of the guys are still finding their way.”

Australia and West Indies have already played three ODI matches in the tri-series, with Australia dominating — winning all three matches by six, four and six wickets respectively.
