Germany, considered one of the favorites to win the 2016 UEFA European Championship, face a potential trap game against Slovakia, a match that will stream live in the Round of 16 Saturday — with the winner facing another tough assignment in the quarterfinals.

The winner of the Italy vs. Spain match on Monday will face either Germany or Slovakia in a quarterfinal elimination match. And though Slovakia is a heavy underdog, they defeated Germany, albeit a German team featuring numerous second-tier players, by a decisive 3-1 score in an international friendly that served as a warm-up match for the 2016 UEFA Euro less than a month ago.

“It’s a beautiful success for Slovakian football that we’ve progressed to the last 16 of an international tournament,” said 29-year-old Slovakia defender Peter Pekarik.

“It’s very special and great for us, and I hope we won’t say goodbye to the tournament tomorrow. We will do our best to give the opponents a hard time and try to progress.”

They may be facing a Germany team that’s primed to suffer an upset. Normally known as a relentless scoring machine, the World Cup champions put just three balls past the keeper in their three group stage matches — but have yet to concede a goal. If Slovakia can break down the German defense, which until the 2016 Euro competition had proven porous, they could manage the most stunning giant-killing of the competition.
