Nicole Kidman Brought To Tears By Birthday Surprise

Nicole Kidman recently received one of the best surprises she could possibly wish for on set. As an actress, it is her job to fake emotion and even tears from time to time, but this time, the tears of joy in her eyes were the kind that that cannot be faked.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Nicole Kidman got emotional during filming as Keith Urban flew in to surprise her for her birthday.

The surprise took place on the set of Top of the Lake, where Nicole Kidman was filming her scenes with Elizabeth Moss. While wearing a gray wig and a costume, Kidman looked rather teary-eyed as she shot the Jane Campion TV series at a house in Sydney’s inner eastern suburbs. In one frame, she has her eyes closed as she hugs Elizabeth Moss while in character as detective Robin Griffin. The tears were convincing, and they could be attributed to the big surprise that she got the day prior as Kidman celebrated her 49th birthday on the set of the BBC and Foxtel series.

At the time of Nicole Kidman’s birthday, her husband, Keith Urban, was midway through a tour of the U.S. But Urban took some time off his busy schedule to surprise Kidman on her special day, which is solid testament to the fact that the couple is still very much in love, and Keith Urban would do just about anything for his wife.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Urban opened up about his devotion to Kidman and his family. Not having the easiest start, Urban looked to Kidman as the person who made him a better man.

Keith Urban touched on the topic of his father and reiterated how much Nicole Kidman means to him.

“My dad was an alcoholic and I grew up in an alcoholic’s house. My recollection is that he was a physical disciplinarian. I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.”

Keith Urban was not the only one who greeted Nicole Kidman on her birthday, as many other big names wanted to make her special day even more special. According to the Daily Mail, Reese Witherspoon and Naomi Watts were amongst the large group of A-list celebrities who wished Nicole Kidman a happy birthday.

In a sign of admiration and friendship, Reese Witherspoon and Naomi Watts both wished Nicole Kidman a happy 49th birthday on social media. Witherspoon took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a selfie with Kidman, telling her to shine bright on her special day.

Watts, on the other hand, took the time to reflect over their passionate kiss from last year. Watts said that Kidman inspires her to do everything, even including kissing her in a shower cap. The moment that Watts remembered was during the 2015 Women in Film soiree in Los Angeles, where the two actresses engaged in a passionate and unexpected kiss. Nicole Kidman took the lead in the memorable moment as she grabbed Naomi’s face and went for the kiss.

Currently, the Eyes Wide Shut actress is in her native Australia for the next few weeks, as she is in the middle of filming the second installment of the crime drama Top of the Lake. It has been some time since Nicole Kidman last set foot in Australia for professional purposes, as the last time she filmed a local production was back in 1989 when she starred in the three-part miniseries Bangkok Hilton. Nicole Kidman brought her daughters, Faith and Sunday Rose, along with her.
