It’s been widely reported that the Obama Administration and the state of Israel are not on the same page, particularly when it comes to dealing with Iran’s nuclear ambitions, but Debbie Wasserman Shultz, chair of the Democrat National Committee, may be making things a lot worse.

Wasserman Schultz, the Florida Congresswoman, recently made a speech during which she claimed that the Israeli ambassador, Michael Oren, said that the GOP is “dangerous” for Israel. When called out later, she went on television to inexplicably deny ever making the statement and insisted that the Washington Examiner deliberately misquoted her. The problem for Wasserman Shultz is that the Examiner had a tape of the speech, which you can listen to below.

Wasserman Shulz’s remarks were made earlier this week, according to the Examiner:

“By way of background, on Monday, the Obama campaign’s Jewish outreach arm held a training session at the Democratic National Convention instructing Jewish Democrats on how to convince fellow Jews to vote for Obama by breaking through what she characterized as Republican distortions of President Obama’s record on Israel.”

Ambassador Oren categorically denied ever casting any aspersions on the Republicans. Moreover, Wasserman Shultz’s claim is absurd on its face because Israel needs bipartisan support in the US; plus, the GOP collectively is very pro-Israel.

As the Inquisitr has previously reported, the president is seen throughout the world, but especially in the US, as being anti-Israel. He and Prime Minister Netanyahu have a less-than-optimum relationship.

Anyone, regardless of their faith, who is concerned about the security of the Jewish state is going to have a difficult time justifying a vote for Obama in November. The left in America and around the world, aided and abetted by the United Nations, is increasingly hostile to Israel (and some would even argue anti-Semitic), even though that country is the only multicultural democracy in the Middle East and provides a full panoply of civil rights for all its citizens regardless of ethnicity or religion.

Wasserman Shultz has also been highly critical of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s financial disclosures, but she has declined to release her own tax returns and also has investments in Switzerland.

All this occurred against the backdrop of the embarrassing Democrat platform omission about Jerusalem being the capital of Israel. As some writers quipped, the Democrats had to commit “vote fraud” from the podium to reinsert that provision even though it sounded like there were more “no” votes. To this day, the US State Department refuses to say whether Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. It’s also has yet to be explained why the platform editors decided to drop that provision (and a few other related sections) from the 2012 document in the first place.

When the news of the initial omission first broke, Mitt Romney responded — according to Politico — in part that:

“When we have our best friend in the Middle East, a nation which shares our values, a nation now under extraordinary threat and distress when nations around it like Syria and Egypt are going through tumult of their own, for us at a stage like this, to take an action of that nature, to cease calling Jerusalem the capital of Israel — this is a very troubling development and I think one which will be recognized for what it is by people across America and across the world.”
