Why Liam Hemsworth Banned Miley Cyrus From His Big ‘Independence Day’ Premiere

Miley Cyrus was noticeably absent from the red carpet at the premiere for boyfriend Liam Hemsworth’s big Independence Day: Resurgence premiere, and now sources are claiming that Hemsworth actually banned Cyrus from attending.

According to an insider, Liam explicitly asked Miley not to attend the event for fear that the two making their first red carpet appearance as a couple since reconciling earlier this year could overshadow his work in the movie.

“Miley would have liked to be at the premiere with Liam,” an insider confirmed to the site, admitting that Cyrus had a hard time agreeing not to be on Hemsworth’s arm at the Los Angeles premiere.

“It was a hard pill to swallow when he told her he didn’t want her to come. But [Cyrus] understands his reasons, she knows she needs to let him call the shots when it comes to his career,” the Miley source alleged.

The site previously reported that it was Liam’s idea for Cyrus to stay as far away from the red carpet event as possible, revealing earlier this week that Hemsworth was worried that the appearing together would cause an unwanted media circus for himself and Cyrus, who have so far kept their relationship seriously private the second time around.

“Liam didn’t want to make things a circus, and didn’t want to overshadow the film by bringing Miley,” a second source told Hollywood Life of his big decision.

“That’s also why he didn’t talk to any outlets during the premiere and just took pictures,” the source added, revealing that the actor was worried he’d be bombarded with questions about Cyrus. “He wanted the movie to stand on its own and not be overshadowed by his relationship [with Miley].”

Liam’s decision to ask Miley not to attend his big movie event comes just weeks after the site claimed that the couple are doing all they can to keep their relationship out of the spotlight the second time around, as an insider noted that Hemsworth in particular is being “very careful” not to flaunt his and Cyrus’ romance.

“Liam is being very careful with Miley this time round in making sure their romance is being kept very private,” a source told Hollywood Life of how Hemsworth is attempting to keep his relationship with Miley away from the public’s glare.

“He hated the fact that their relationship became such a public obsession, and gossip and pictures of them together filled all the websites and magazines,” the insider added.

Miley and Liam have kept a seriously low profile since it was revealed that they’d officially rekindled their romance, which first fizzled in 2012, but that doesn’t mean the recently reunited pair have been hiding away at home.

Cyrus and her man, whom she’s rumored to once again be engaged to, were spotted getting cozy back in April at the premiere of Liam’s brother, Chris Hemsworth’s, movie premiere for The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

Cyrus and Hemsworth steered clear of the red carpet at the event, but were spotted getting seriously close by a number of eyewitnesses who saw the two together inside.

According to a source who spotted the couple, Miley and Liam “were smiling and looked happy to be together” but slipped out of the venue before the movie ended to avoid being photographed together.

“Miley [was] looking adoringly up at Liam as he led her out of the theatre,” the eyewitness revealed to Us Weekly.

Miley and Liam have also been spotted out together numerous times in Hemsworth’s homeland of Australia, despite neither officially confirming their reconciliation.

Just Jared reported that Cyrus and Hemsworth were photographed holding hands at a local restaurant on April 29, while PopSugar spotted Cyrus just days earlier out to lunch with the Hemsworth family in Byron Bay.
